Facing Boycott, Girl Scouts Hide Support for Planned Parenthood, Abortion
Life News ^ | Jill Stanek

Posted on 02/06/2014 7:26:57 PM PST by Morgana

Girl Scouts USA was a founding member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and is its largest member. In 2008 and 2009 over 60% of WAGGGS’ membership fees ($2.45 million and $2.3 million respectively) came from GSUSA.

Prominently displayed on every Daisy, Brownie, and Girl Scout uniform is the World Trefoil Pin, to “represent their connection to the worldwide sisterhood of Girl Scouting and Girl Guiding.” (Source for graphic here.) 2014-02-06_1205

The two groups are joined at the hip.

In March 2010 WAGGGS bragged that one of its delegates, Nefeli Themeli, was among a group of young people advocating for “[a]ccessible, affordable and safe abortions” at the 54th session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations headquarters in New York City. Click to enlarge…

The above remained on WAGGGS’ website from March 2010 until October 2011. At that point heat obviously forced WAGGGS to hide “abortion” inside “reproductive health services.” Click to enlarge…

2014-02-06_1324

The above was on the site until just this year, when WAGGGS removed it entirely. But WAGGGS has forgotten to remove the declaration given by Themeli at CSW54 on its behalf promoting “access… to… reproductive health services,” i.e., abortion.

You’ll note GSUSA’s website has distanced the group as far as possible from Planned Parenthood… 2014-02-06_1349

But GSUSA CEO Kathy Cloninger sang a different tune when on The Today Show in 2004…

Girl Scout Logo on Green BackgroundThis informative pdf gives several examples of both WAGGGS and GSUSA’s connection to International Planned Parenthood.

There is much more corroboration. Tragically, liberal feminists have poisoned the once noble Girl Scouts organization with a pro-abortion agenda. Pro-lifers have been trying for years to get people to notice. Finally, the organization overplayed its hand by calling late-term abortion filibusterer Wendy Davis “incredible” and abortionist protector Katheen Sebelius a woman of “courage, confidence, and character.” She’s a character all right. From the dark side.

SIGN THE PETITION AND JOIN THE BOYCOTT: We Support the Pro-Life Girl Scout Cookie Boycott

But I digress.

All of this is to make the point that pro-lifers at large are calling for a boycott of Girl Scouts cookies this year, called “Cookie Cott 2014.” And this former Brownie is in.

Most of the uninformed American people don’t know anything much about the GS either.

All the more reason to explain to the little girl scouts the REASON you can’t, in good conscience, buy their cookies-—and, do it before other people wanting to purchase the cookies. Educate THEM, as well.

Because if I buy these Thin Mints in a GS box I will be putting a dead baby in a dumpster box.

When the little girls come to your door give them the website for American Heritage Girls. (Christian alternative to Girl Scouts)

And now Commie Obama wants Universal Kindergarten for all of America’s “bunch of kids.”

I find this article difficult to read, hard to follow. And what is it you’re asking of social conservatives, and WHY?

Should we be berating girl scouts who come to our door saying, “your organization supports killing babies”?

It simply isn’t clear. You need to be VERY clear when it comes to such things. Please clarify.

You can find the answer in your own tag line:

“A person’s a person, no matter how small”

“Universal Kindergarten”

How can obozo do this? To have a Kindergarten one first must have kids to attend it. Obozo and his crowd wants them all aborted.

It seems pretty clear to me what they are advocating is a boycott of Girl Scout cookies. That means not buying them.

Obama’s “bunch of kids” learn from the Liberal Kindergarten teachers about the birds and the bees, grow up sexually liberated, abort whenever, and later go on Federal Welfare, or keep their “bunch of kids” to support themselves with unlimited Federal Welfare, well until the Female time clock stops working.

What better way to insure that there will ALWAYS be more than enough Decadent Democrats to keep voting in Decadent Socialists to control Federal power?

Ain’t Obama’s Plantation Politics the be all, end all for all of America’s “bunch of folks?’

BTW, always remember that each Law and Regulation was enacted with the intention of doing good - - - - .

then it is such a poorly worded article that someone like me who feels so strongly on abortion can’t make heads nor tails on what the author intended.

Q: What is GSUSA's position regarding human sexuality, birth control, abortion?

A: Girl Scouts of the USA does not take a position or develop materials on these issues. We feel our role is to help girls develop self-confidence and good decision-making skills that will help them make wise choices in all areas of their lives.

Parents or guardians make all decisions regarding program participation that may be of a sensitive nature. Consistent with that belief, GSUSA directs councils, including volunteer leaders, to get written parental permission for any locally planned program that could be considered sensitive.

Q: Does GSUSA have a relationship with Planned Parenthood?

A: No, Girl Scouts of the USA does not have a relationship or partnership with Planned Parenthood.

Q: Did GSUSA distribute a Planned Parenthood brochure at a United Nations event?

A: No, we did not. In 2010, GSUSA took part in the 54th Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations. Our participation in that conference was the subject of numerous internet stories and blogs that were factually inaccurate and troubling. Girl Scouts had no knowledge of the brochure in question and played no role in distributing it.

Again. It simply is not clear what this author is writing nor requesting.

I’m glad you can see it. But your response doesn’t exactly enhance clarity when that’s precisely what I have asked for.

Hope this helps:

This is from the thread article:

” - - - LifeNews.com Note: Jill Stanek fought to stop “live birth abortions” after witnessing one as an RN at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois. That led to the Born Alive Infants Protection Act legislation, signed by President Bush, that would ensure that proper medical care be given to unborn children who survive botched abortion attempts. - - - “

As you can see, even her bio is disjointed.

IMHO, the author is:
* writing with high emotion
* skipping important connecting thoughts
* relying on hotlinks, images, and code phrases to fill out her article
* assuming that we agree with all that she has written.

Summary: Not a good article “to read in front of a writing class.”

Thank you. I would have had to click through to the article and risked all the downloads, spamware, malware, and whatever else + pursued much of the website in order to know what was being said.

IMHO, the author is:
* writing with high emotion
****I don’t mind that as long as the author makes sense.

* skipping important connecting thoughts
***The key missing ingredient. Even someone with a prolife tagline doesn’t know WTF she’s saying.

* relying on hotlinks, images, and code phrases to fill out her article
***Unfortunate. She has something important to say and it’s lost in all that.

* assuming that we agree with all that she has written.
****It sounds like I agree on the vast majority of what she writes, and yet she can’t connect. That’s a tragedy.

Summary: Not a good article “to read in front of a writing class.”
***Sad. Very Sad. If Girl Scouts catch me this year, maybe I’ll ask them if they have heard of this author before I buy a box of overpriced mint cookies.

Boycotts are usually called for people to their dissatisfaction with someone or some group or something and to let your dissatisfaction be known publically

Usually boycotts get started by someone calling for one publically to get the ball rolling. So a fair amount of, um, salesmanship is involved to have a successful boycott.
Since it’s not enforceable in any way, it’s merely a suggestion (I’m speaking of all boycotts).

In this particular case, Staneck is suggesting that people might want to show their dissatisfaction with the Girl Scout organization for promoting high profile pro-Abortion woman as role models to young girls.

Although she gave a lot of possibly extraneous information, it might be background info that would motivate more people to boycott, people who perhaps are not familiar with the backstory on the Girl Scouts.

No doubt it could have been presented more clearly but I thought it was very clear what she was suggesting. I can’t see any other interpretation

***well... whatever. It was a pisspoor display.

***To be candid, that’s NEWS to me, even after reading her ridiculously written article. If she is ONLY writing to those who follow her, she should consider confining her efforts to TWitter.

Her suggested boycott is doomed. Because of her writing ability. We all admire her passion.

Her message is clear to me, and this is not a writing class. Attacking someones writing style is straight from the Alinsky playbook. I don’t get it. For over ten years, I have been reading about the degeneration of the girl scouts. This is a serious topic, and you have tried to be snarky. It’s about the message not the messenger.

***No. Very simply, the message was so poorly written as to be obscured completely.

It’s about the message not the messenger.
***And what have I said about the messenger? zip. I’ve been commenting on the message, which was very poorly written and as a result, the movement suffers.
