We Support the Pro-Life Girl Scout Cookie Boycott
ipetitions.com ^

Posted on 02/06/2014 9:27:39 AM PST by Morgana

The Girl Scouts should be an organization dedicated to teaching young girls moral values, teamwork, leadership, self-esteem and other skills kids need growing up.

I am concerned about the long list of ways in which the Girl Scouts have:

* partnered with Planned parenthood, the nation's largest abortion business,

* participated in international conferences promoting abortion,

* hired pro-abortion feminists as national Girl Scout leaders,

* promoted pro-abortion politicians like Wendy Davis and Kathleen Sebelius

The Girl Scouts should not be partnering with the Planned Parenthood abortion business or promoting abortion or pro-abortion groups and people. Therefore, until the Girl Scouts end their associations with Planned Parenthood and pro-abortion groups and people, I support the boycott of Girl Scout cookies.

For a list of connections between the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood/abortion, see http://www.lifenews.com/2014/01/29/pro-life-groups-launch-national-boycott-of-girl-scout-cookies-over-abortion-ties/

How should one respond when approached by a little girl scout selling cookies?

How about telling the truth?

“I don’t want my money going to support baby killers” ?

“I don’t want my money going to support Planned Parenthood” ?

May sound harsh but get to them while they are young because you know Planned Parenthood is doing it’s very best. Planned Parenthood tells them “it’s a clump of cells” you tell them “it’s a baby” and you don’t support the “murder of any baby”.

A “Cookies for Life” campaign is in order. Bake cookies for your friends and neighbors in exchange for a donation to Right to Life or your local Family Values Pregnacy Center.

Girl Scout Cookie profits stay in the local council and troop, they do not go to the national organization.

Other sources say otherwise: Despite their undeniable tastiness, there's no denying that, at $3.50 to $4 per box, Girl Scout cookies can be costly. But it might soften the blow to know where your cookie money really goes.Donna Ceravolo, CEO of Girl Scouts of Nassau County, New York, says a majority of the sales price of each box stays in the community. Using the Nassau County price of $3.50 per box as our example, here's a breakdown of how she says the money is spent.

For each box sold, 85 cents per box goes to the baker to cover production, packaging, shipping of the cookies to the troop, and other incidental costs. Out of the remaining $2.65, 50 to 57 cents goes to the selling troop, which will use the funds to cover the cost of programming, community service projects and scholarships, and to offset the cost of participating in Girl Scouts.

Of course, then there are the prizes that some troops dole out to their top-selling scouts. Prizes can cost anywhere from 5 to 7 cents per box, says Ceravolo. So if a troop opts to award prizes, they'll get about 50 to 52 cents per box. "But if a troop votes to eliminate prizes, they get about 57 cents per box," she says.

Of the remaining funds, about 1 penny per box goes to the neighborhood "service unit" -- another level of scouting -- and stays within the community. The rest goes to the regional council, which is usually comprised of numerous troops that are located near each other, Ceravolo explains. The regional council of Nassau County, for instance, focuses solely on the troops in Nassau County, New York. "The remaining $2.14 to $2.07 is used to fund local programming, support summer camps, train adult volunteers, and so on," says Ceravolo.

Contrary to urban legends, the proceeds from Girl Scout cookie sales are not funneled to the national scouting organization. "Girl Scouts of the USA has a deal in place in which they receive royalties directly from the two national bakers of the cookies," Ceravolo says. "The regional councils do not send cookie money to the national organization."

“Other sources say otherwise:”

Dude I was a GS Leader!! I know how much our troop received from a box of cookie. It was not much because so much went higher up.

You want the truth? I’ll give you the truth plain and simple. The GSA should not be supporting Planned Parenthood and let the girls have that money to go camping! Yes I former GS leader Morgana said that because I was so pissed at how things were run.

I should start MorganaScouts and do things the right way!!

We do not buy the cookies.... But we donate cash to local troops, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts vs feeding funds to the national level asshats gay / abortion propaganda. We know the local leaders and sponsor them. They account for every dime in a very proper manner.

No cookies ..... Feeding royalties to HQ is not good at any level of the cookie selling season.

My opinion.

I just bought some. Thin Mints are me fav. If you were to avoid food, places, products and people because they are connected to someone you don’t like then chances are you are a sad lonely person.

I feel really bad for the little girls, but apparently the old scags who are pushing this agenda don’t. I fully agree with waht you say. I think that a year or two of this direct resistance to collusion with planned parenthood will come to an end and the Girl Scouts will straighten out. I won’t be buying any this year and I will tell the young girls exactly why.

There's another problem with girl scout cookies. They contain HFCS and other body poisons.

Your argument supporting girl scout cookies doesn't do it. Why not hire a local baker and sell those cookies instead of supporting those who abet baby killers? And make it clear that the national organization has nothing to do with your cookies. You'd probably end up with greater profits, and you'd contrbute more to the local economy. And improve the ingredients while you're at it.

As I have done in the past, I will make a small cash donation to the local troop with the stipulation that it be used there. I have told the GS moms I know (one co-worker, one choir member) about the PP connection and that I won't buy the cookies, but I trust them to do right by their daughters and their friends.
