It's the middle of winter, so backyard rinks are in full bloom. Many you see are of the no frills variety -- some wood acting as the boards and a fresh sheet of ice with hockey equipment littered on top.
But for Justin Lachapelle, a resident of St-Lazare, Quebec, he's taken his love for the Montreal Canadiens and his ability to build a backyard rink to an entirely different level.
Not only does his 64-by-32 rink have re-used boards from a local rink, painted lines and face-off circles to make it look like Bell Centre, there's also a dressing room and, most importantly, a rink-side bar for post-game pops

Its worth going to all that effort when winter is 10 months a year.
I worked at a home on a cul de sac in New Hampshire this summer that had a similar size rink, full boards all around, lights for night skating, a sound system, and cable tv so the adults could be entertained while the kids skated. It was a very touching story as it was built by a neighbor in memory of a neighborhood mother who died much too young.
I would so have to do that if i lived up north. That is SWEEEEEEEET!

When I was a kid the local park would make a large frame on the ground using 2x4 boards. They would then fill this frame with a hose to create a skating rink. It worked OK and was a lot of fun!
I lived in northern Illinois as a kid, it was effing cold in the winter.
FL Panthers beat the Canadiens TWICE in Montreal.
A whole bunch of sad fans there yuck yuck.
Actually the Panthers beat 5 of the 6 Canada teams on the last road trip, losing only to Winnepeg.
It’s especially sad whenever a team loses in their own home town...

The levers on his Zamboni are old hockey sticks....nice touch!
not saying much as the Panthers are and have been for years the worst team in hockey.
With little chance in improving.
They got the city of Sunrie to build them an arena paid for with taxes.
Now they are asking for another couple hundred million for improvements
And still the product they present is not up to league standards.
Only problem....it was done in their front yard in a high end neighborhood....not to mention the illegal chickens they were raising in their back yard as a 4-H project, neighbors loved them!
lol..I love chickens, but roosters at 5am are a pain. :-)
