It depends on the kids. I know some really sweet teens who have come out as gay. One of them was in our church group, and my kids did tons of things with him. My son probably shared a tent with him at some point.
I would vote no for both scenarios, but I can reasonably say the odds would be far better that your scenario would not need the Special Victims Unit the morning after.

I was 11 in 6th grade. I was also in the scouts at that same time. Seems like forever ago.

I agree that MOST gay kids are just fine...however, if your son shared a tent with a gay male, it would be the SAME situation if you let your daughter share the tent with a straight male....neither a good situation....they are kids and sometimes they do stupid things, like cuddle up "JUST TO KEEP WARM"......
My son would not have done that!!! The kid from our church group isn’t that stupid.
