hehe, thank u girl2, u r so nice.
You hate me.
In fact, the Chinese name for America translates as “the beautiful land,”
lol, u can come and take a try.
I’ve been to China many times and studied there for two six- week periods. I am an older woman, but every Chinese person I met or became friends with were just plain wonderful, and friendly - young or old.
well done!
If they’re like the ones you’ve posted before, sure!
Your English is fine, my friend.
Its a coincidence you posted on Freerepublic.com as I had been thinking about you recently and how we had not heard from you in such a long time.
I have been reading an interesting book about a Westener and a Chinese woman traveling up the entire length of the Yangtze river. The writer’s name is Simon Winchester and its quite a good book. He writes travel and history books and this is the first book about China I have read that did not involve WWII.
I know very little about the country but have begun to study the news reports and have been reading up on the Three Gorges Dam which is fascinating.
Very nice to hear from you again, Chinaboy. Stop being a stranger! Stop by more often and say hello. There are many fine people here as I am sure you know. You’ll easily make friends.
I wish you and your family all the best.
Oh Laz, we all hate you!
Laz,I actually understood that.
Now I’m scared.
Really? That’s great, Mr. Lakeshark. :)
Also-— the Chinese language is absolutely fascinating!! Actually it is more like 3 languages in that you have the spoken, and then the actual character, then the written interpretation of the sound-— pin yin.
And then there is the etymology of the character!!!!! So absorbing!!
I’m not fluent, by any means, even tho I started on the language years ago. I can get by with simple stuff. But it continues to interest me — as does the entire Chinese culture— poetry, music, history, etc.
nothing, lol
I don’t want to sound patronizing, but Chinese people remind me of Americans, circa 1950s: they just speak a different language.
Well, finally.
Well said! Bravo!
thanks again my friend. It is my pleasure and my good fortune to know someone like you. i will read that book that u mentioned over at my leisure. i think that book must be worthy of being read.
Of what I know, I agree completely.
My wife’s next book project is supposed to be a traveler’s phrase book geared for parents adopting from China; though with the wait times being as long as they are now, I can’t imagine it will have too big a market.
i am so glad you have enjoyed your stay there. :)
Swimming in cholesterol is not a good way to insure that future, your wit, and your sarcasm, and above all your command of the language will be needed to educate the heathen.
