>>You might want to try out windows phone 8. It integrates very well with windows desktop. Windows 8.1 is easy to use. If you prefer windows 7, just install FREE windows classic shell. Voila - windows 7 UI!<<
I installed Classic Shell. Think about the implications of that step.
As for Win Phone, I am sure stabbing knitting needles in one’s eyes works for some.
I demure.

Maybe we need a better definition of innovation.
I just see Metro glued onto Windows.
I really like Windows, don’t care for Metro and Android works better than either using a touch screen.

To each his own. I have both nokia 920 and iPhone. My sons had iPhones and have nokia 1020 (41 megapixel camera better that their DSLR’s)

They need better DLSRs
That 41 megapixil camera has a big sensor compared to other phones but tiny compared to a decent DLSR and that does not even consider the lenses.

Apple always got there after their original computers by stealing from others. Jobs was never bashful about admitting it.

Windows 8.x is the most hated OS since ME.
Hated only by those who are afraid of learning a few new tricks. Yet, those new tricks are as simple as using a new touch UI, which to most, is very simple. And then, if people still want to act like a dog that can't learn new trick, they can continue using the old "desktop" interface, which is really there as if nothing had changed. It's mostly a matter of hate, than using one's head. A brain is a terrible thing to waste; people need to exercise their brains, and believe me, Windows 8 is not rocket science, and it's actually a much better design than the old icons interface which is now older than 20 years. GEt with the times.

It’s really a matter of preference, but, I still don’t see anywhere where the Android UI is better than Windows 8, and I have 2 Android smartphones at home.

I just created an app for my band that went instantly on Android but requires a $300 per year fee to be available at the Istore. That will kill them eventually.
