My comments on this thread have been fairly benign compared to the comments I see about blacks on other FR threads.
Many such comments could be regarded as "spot on"; others smack of racist tones...often left implied vs. outright racial slams...
Yet you haven't donned your police uniform to rein those in. Why not if you're so adamant about no "race war?"
Occasionally a few such comments are quite provocative racially-speaking.
So, you seemingly have some pollyanish 'tude toward some of those occasional comments -- and by that, I mean, you seem to assign them an unrealistic optimistic overview on the "racial provocative scale";
yet somehow you seem to think that the racial war we see on the streets "out there" -- one that you & I probably both admit exists to some degree...
...won't ever have its tensions overrun other "channels"...
...Really?
That's like a pollyanish person watching the Mississippi overrun a lot of banks in the Upper Midwest thinking their sandbag comments will keep it all hemmed-in -- in check -- as the river flows downstream.
If racial tensions & racial hostility exists out there...then, hey, ya better believe it's not going to be able to be kept hermetically sealed from overrunning in here. I've seen that with a LOT of implied statements on various FR threads -- often due to people's frustrations with the liberal MSM.
Yet beyond mods deleting some posts, I don't see any peer "policing" done by self-designated post-cops like you.

You are exactly right. Below is a link to a thread from yesterday in which he is doing the same thing---essentially playing his little game of Free Republic Knockout...trolling in hopes of proving, in his mind, that most of us are racist.
I've seen it before, even in my short time here. They start out carefully, get to feeling frisky, and then they go too far.

I've seen firsthand what it is to live in isolated/insulated almost all-white communities, tho -- where references to the closest minorities in nearby towns (Native Americans) usually had the adjective "drunk" readily attached by the locals.
It was precisely a lack of having Native Americans in their friends/family/close proximity circle that seemed to foster insensitive comments & worse.
I'm sure you've heard similar putdown labels as well.
And then due to my Mormon family background (I was never Lds, but descended from Lds)...I think it's rather shameful that my ancestors believed in "scriptures" that taught...

So, I firmly believe you & those Ranchmen & oilmen you cite -- due to their existing relationships with Native Americans -- oppose such Book of Mormon nonsense & would speak out to various degrees against such racist claptrap.
