the “smart guys” at espn said that LA was out of the picture for greinke right up to the point that they signed him.

Which is what's generally being said about LA and Cano.

BTW, I don't watch ESPN that much. I get more of my baseball information from MLB Network. They're especially good during the Winter Meetings and at the trade deadline.

McCann’s contract does not seem any more outrageous than other MLB contracts. $10 million seems the going rate for an everyday player, and that much more for one of the ten best at his position, which McCann certainly is.
