Scientists Confirm World's Oldest Creature...But Kill it Determining Its Age
Breitbart ^ | November 14 2013 | JON DAVID KAHN

2006, climate change experts from Bangor University in north Wales found a very special clam while dredging the seabeds of Iceland. At that time scientists counted the rings on the inside shell to determine that the clam was the ripe old age of 405. Unfortunately, by opening the clam which scientists refer to as "Ming," they killed it instantly.

Cut to 2013, researchers have determined that the original calculations of Ming's age were wrong, and that the now deceased clam was actually 102 years older than originally thought. Ming was 507 years old at the time of its demise.

Idiots. Like 11-year old boys taking things apart to see how they USED to work.

I get to say that, having once long ago been an 11-year old boy...

A graduate student in the 60’s was studying Bristle Cone pines. Got his very expensive coring bit stuck so he cut the tree down. Turns out it was 5000 years old, oldest anyone had ever found till then.

Kinda ruined the poor guy’s life.

I was eleven once for an entire year. I took apart (and reassembled) an electric train engine and it never worked again.

In my defense it worked but it wasn't alive before I messed with it.
