Concierge Medicine -- The Future?
Arizona Daily Sun ^ | 10/27/2013 | Kathleen Stinson

Dr. Neal Mogk thinks he has found a better way to manage his medical practice that improves the service he provides to his patients.

Dr. Mogk, a board certified family practice physician, has decided to change his Beaver Street Family Practice to what he calls a “concierge-style” that, by reducing his patient roster, will give him more time to spend with each one.

“I will be able to get to know my patients better,” he said.

He said not everybody wants “aggressive” or interventional care. For example, some people with an aching shoulder might want to be treated with therapy and others may want a “surgical fix.”

Knowing the patient better will help him decide which treatment is best to suggest, he said.

Starting in January, he will charge each patient a $600 per year fee that lets them enjoy his “concierge” service. The fee can be paid in smaller installments. He will still bill a patient’s insurance and collect co-pays as before.

Signups will be on a first-come, first-served basis until the reduced roster is full. He said his patients who do not want to use the concierge service can still stay with the practice and be seen by Amy Clark, D.O. in his office or his nurse practitioner at no extra fee, he said.

24/7 PHONE ACCESS

The concierge service entitles the patient to longer office visits, guaranteed same-day appointments for urgent problems, house calls in Flagstaff area when needed, 24/7 phone calls returned personally unless he is out of town, and some other special treatment.

Next they will be threatening to seize the airplane factories of Messerschmitt if they refuse to manufacture planes for the Luftwaffe. Oh, wait . . .

Sounds good from what I’ve read.

Maybe check out some of those prepper books on medicine beyond doctors? LOL

Seriously, you didn’t include medical availability in your choice of relocation? You may be stuck with traveling to a doctor in a surrounding county.

One of the best things is to eat a diet designed to enhance your immune system, so that you don’t get sick to begin with.

Why should doctors go underground if they can leave medicine entirely? You're still talking a hefty malpractice risk.

Not a chance for a bonafide physician, although curanderos are already in place. Not a chance.

State Boards of Medicine will yank the license of these entrepreneurial doctors eventually if this becomes too popular. Nothing will escape the Grim Reaper known as nobamacare.

The rich liberals take for granted that their access to the best medical care will continue. That may be true if they are careful to stay close to the few hospitals that will be able to maintain quality or even open doors.

I've been on FR for years trying to explain that once you shut down the Space Shuttle, even Bill Gates will not be able to ride into space on one...it's like that with our medical system. Once the infrastructure goes dark, the darkness won't care how much money you have.

Not laughing out loud or otherwise, and already ahead of you in that.

“Seriously, you didn’t include medical availability in your choice of relocation?”

Seriously, I only look like a dolt. Of course I did. They have all left the business since we bought there 13 years ago. The clinic is trying to hire at least one and preferably two doctors, or even another nurse practicioner.

“You may be stuck with traveling to a doctor in a surrounding county.”

Yup.

“One of the best things is to eat a diet designed to enhance your immune system, so that you don’t get sick to begin with.”

Fortunately Mrs. Crusher is a nutritional savant. Still haven’t figured out a good dietary response to glaucoma and corneal disease, though.

Indeed, just like when Krutchev acted like Linbergh after coming to the US in a prop plane while the US had been flying jets for decades. These people have no clue, like cutting the air forcd budget or saying private jets are evil while flying on them.
