Governor Jerry Brown signs bill allowing nurses and midwives to perform abortions in California

SACRAMENTO, CA October 9, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – California Governor Jerry Brown has signed two bills allowing non-physicians to perform abortions and reducing health standards for abortion facilities, saying the new laws “support the health and well-being of women.”

California is the fifth state to allow or not explicitly ban the practice of non-physician abortion, joining Montana, New York, Oregon, and Vermont. California Governor Jerry Brown ran for the Democratic pres California Governor Jerry Brown ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1976, 1980, and 1992.

The bill, A.B. 154, introduced by San Diego Democrat Toni Atkins, would authorize midwives, nurse practitioners, and physicians’ assistants to perform first-trimester suction aspiration abortions.

A study conducted by Tracy Weitz, director of UC-San Francisco’s Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health, found that abortions performed by non-physicians had twice the rate of complications as those performed by doctors. However, Dr. Weitz called the difference “clinically equivalent.”

The new law, which originally passed the General Assembly in May, cleared the State Senate last month by a near-party line vote of 25-11. Lou Correa of Anaheim was the only Senate Democrat to vote against the bill.

“The growing shortage of abortion providers creates a significant barrier for women,” said State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson, D-Santa Barbara.

The Guttmacher Institute has reported that in 2008 nearly one-third of all the nation's abortion providers, more than 500, worked in California.

In pointed contrast to a growing trend across the nation of tightening health regulations on abortion, Governor Brown also signed a bill lowering standards for abortion facilities.

A.B. 980 by Assemblymember Richard Pan, D- Sacramento, reverses health regulations intended to hold abortionists' offices to the same standards as other surgical facilities. Other states, such as Texas and Virginia, have been increasing office regulations after reading about the filthy conditions of abortion offices like Kermit Gosnell's and others across the nation.

State Senator Mimi Walters, R-Irvine, objected that "lowering standards...does put women's health at risk."

"Why would you lower standards?" fellow Republican State Senator Ted Gaines, R-Rocklin asked. "These are surgical facilities.”

The signature was part of what Governor Brown's office described as a group of “seven bills to support the health and well-being of women in California.”

Few things will thrill the CA people more than more easy abortions. People there will start counting the dollars they can save.

A lack of abortion “providers.” Maybe doctors want to heal, not kill. Pretty soon they’ll be licensing barbers and manicurists to perform abortions. Back to the back alley. Or...O-care will force doctors under threat to do abortions. They already have shown they have no respect for individual conscience.

They should add cab drivers, door men, convenience store clerks, garbage pick up engineers, police officers, and homeless people to the list of approved baby murder service providers. It’s all about women’s rights and health care.

“Pretty soon they’ll be licensing barbers”

come on that is an insult to barbers! In the old days barbers doubled as surgeons. To call them abortionist is low no matter how unskilled at being surgeons they were. Or barbers for that matter. For this they may as well just get the Ted Bundy types. Gives them a paying job and at least we know where they are. /major sarc

It is a testament to the damage being done by our government schools that we still have so many liberals as they seem to be obsessed with killing their young.

A good number of them feel that humans are the greatest threat to the earth and they want as few left alive as possible.

I thought RU-486 totally solved this problem.

That’s what we were told would happen when the blood cult demanded its legalization.

What great things post 1965 immigration brought us.

The MD who introduced this bill - Richard Pan appears to have a good background as an MD.

His parents came to the United States from Taiwan, assumptively as staunch anti-Communists. Most of Taiwan was in '65.

But what does their son do?

Votes far left as often as he can, and perpetrates a moral and ethical outrage like this.

The guy is a creep.

At the same time Texas voted to restrict abortions to medical clinics with real medical standards and most are now closing. Once again there could not be a clearer choice. California with no drilling and lots of regulations, and Texas with a explosion of drilling and more freedom. One state allowing on demand abortions the other at least requiring a clean medical facility to protect the mother.

It is not about protecting the mother. It is about killing the undesirable, unwanted and inferior. It is eugenics in action.

He learned in the seminary to hate women and sodomize men/boys. Note—he is legalizing killing girls/babies and women in botched surgery, and he lusts after little boys—why he is forcing Kindergarden boys to “take Pride” in anal sex and worship creepy pederasts like Harvey Milk-—to warp them, as he was obviously warped in childhood so he is irrational—can not Reason.....and gets aroused by looking at men. He can’t truly “Love”-—he has only used others throughout his life as objects for his pleasure or ends.

He is a practicing Satanist. There is no “Right” to kill genetic offspring or sodomize others-—both are Vice and can never be promoted in a Just System of Rule of Law (God’s Law), All Laws are moral or unconstitutional. Justice is the Queen of Virtue.

Maybe he was one of the Marxist infiltrators in the seminaries to destroy the Church from within.......the ones Bella Dodd wrote about.
