WASHINGTON — It’s long been known that America’s school kids haven’t measured well compared with international peers. Now, there’s a new twist: Adults don’t either.

In math, reading and problem-solving using technology – all skills considered critical for global competitiveness and economic strength – American adults scored below the international average on a global test, according to results released Tuesday.

Bou are we dumb BUT WHERE IS THE TEST?!?! Personally, I'd like to see this test that proves our VOTING POPULATION is so dumb, but still I'd like to see that test.

One question, did they test the Nobel Peace Prize committee of 2009?

We know that 52% of Americans are dumber than the average fencepost. They really drag the average down.

I am a college educator and find that incoming freshmen almost totally lacking basic math skills, read and write poorly and are utterly devoid of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. I place blame squarely on the educational establishment and teachers unions. Students are not challenged to learn and are being fed politically correct pap and feel good self esteem rather than being taught the skills they need to survive in a globally competitive world.

They were also testing only in the top 15% or so of countries for economic development.

In 1970, the NEA went from a national education association whose charter was to discover and share the best ways to teach children, to a labor union whose charter was to discover and share the best ways to bilk the taxpayers out of maximum pay and benefits for its members.

Anyone who was fortunate enough to be educated prior to 1970 managed to escape the legacy of ignorance and mediocrity.

This is not a surprise. I, personally, feel a great deal more stupid than I did in January 2009. Many on FR that I call FRiends would agree, I’ve actually lost IQ points.

Well, the best of the best of the US public education system has been hard at work for several decades now. Which means in theory this should not even be considered news AT ALL.
