Not so, window clerks and bulk mail clerks receive clothing allowances and are also required to wear uniforms.

I got a notice for a special photo book I ordered Monday. I went to the post office and they couldn’t find it. Lost already. This is the 3rd time that has happened to me this year.

About 3 months from now, it will be found and returned to sender. At least, that is what happened the other 2 times.

What is REALLY stupid is I have an oversize box that would have easily taken this package...

When I was a kid, the mail persons were always in uniform and looking sharp.

Heh. I work for the Postal Service and I agree with you. We are constantly being exhorted to try to convince local businesses to switch their package shipping from UPS or FedEx to the USPS.

But -- and our pricing is better -- there is still the image. You can have Kevin or Eric show up in shiny brown or blue trucks, in uniform. Or, maybe Derek'll show up in his old, black Chevy Malibu in cutoffs and a t-shirt.

Sigh.

Criminal postal worker stole the $50 cash out of our 5 year old grandson’s birthday card. Mr. GG2’s daughter called to say they got the card but no money in it. What a country we have devolved into.

“What is REALLY stupid is I have an oversize box that would have easily taken this package...”

But that means they would have had to actually carry it to your home. I think more and more often they don’t even bother to try to deliver it, just leave you a notice.

I am getting to the point to ask senders to send thing via UPS or FedEx — but now even UPS has some arrangement with the post office, that they don’t deliver to your home, but to the post office and the postman is supposed to deliver it to your home, except he doesn’t.

That’s what happened to me. Came to the city by UPS, then USPS for delivery (lost).

Oh please. I could have included clerks. But you won’t see them driving on lawns delivering mail.

Back in the '90s, I worked as a clerk in the Special Delivery unit of the General Mail Facility in Denver; I would sometimes deliver Express Mail throughout the city in my private vehicle...an '86 Corvette.

On more than one occasion, the reaction from person to whom I delivered the mail was, "No wonder the price of stamps is going up!".
