LOL!
In Mongolia they use Golden Eagles to hunt wolves. There are some incredible videos on Youtube. The Eagles usually work two in tandem and kill the wolves.
Thanks for the link(s). Just kidding. Thanks for the info.;-))
I’m no good at aminal tracks. What is the prey in this case?
Correct, those are rabbit tracks. I just posted it because the “game expert” quoted in the article seemed a little clueless about reading tracks in the snow. Although, in his defense, I imagine the evidence is rarely so clear-cut.
I was reading a survival book recently and it was encouraging young people to get out into the country as often as possible a few days after snow has fallen, and to follow the tracks of native fauna as far as they could possibly follow them. Excellent advice, I think. They would learn a ton of things about the lives of animals, not to mention about tracking and survival. Wish I had read that book when I was a kid; that’s exactly the kind of stuff I would’ve loved doing back then.
Me either. Rabbit.
I had a golden eagle go after my dog, a 65 pound border collie. Fortunately, the sliding glass door was closed, and didn’t break when the eagle slammed into it. I have little doubt that the eagle could have killed my dog. Those talons are the stuff of nightmares.
That’s an amazing picture. There are some big-a** eagles out there! I enlarged the photo to see if I could spot an electrocuted eagle at the base of the pole but didn’t see anything. Lucky birdie.
I know what you mean. This weekend we went on a Cub Scout camp out. We shot bb guns, shot arrows with compound bows, caught some frogs, took a long hike in the woods, cooked over a fire and slept in tents. I loved doing that when I was a kid, now I like it even more with my second grade son.
