Formula 1: New Jersey race dropped from draft 2014 calendar
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/23974794
Plans for a new grand prix overlooking New York City have been dropped from the draft 2014 calendar.

The race in New Jersey is replaced by a proposed event in Mexico City, which last hosted Formula 1 in 1992.

A race in the Russian city of Sochi and the return of the Austrian Grand Prix make up a 21-race schedule circulated by F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone.

The season is due to start in Australia on 16 March and end at Interlagos in Brazil on 30 November.

A Mexico City street course could be cool. I love the Monaco race and download old ones from time to time just to watch them.

If you’re not opposed to torrents, you can usually find full BBC or Sky Sports broadcasts with no commercials, and practice and qualifying, too.

Speed Channel folded? I thought they were just having some peeing contest with Direct.

Guess they needed more that Barret-Jackson to pay the bills.

checkout the vipbox-F1 link in post#1 on raceday and look for the SKY Sports link, it'll be live and no commercials

they usually have qualifying also

A much more interesting track than the current one.

I don’t really see the big hoopla over this race, it is often the second most boring one of the season after Monaco.

I hate how hyped up this race is. Such a snooze-fest. Watched Grand Am at Laguna Seca and didn’t fast forward once through the race.

F1 at Monza? I think I just FF from about 1/2 way to the end.

I was at Sonoma for WTCC this weekend. The races are short (two 13-lap races, one with a pace car start and the other a standing start) and the cars aren’t especially fast, but it makes for some exciting racing. It’s what NASCAR would be if they drove compact sedans and ran nothing but road courses.

I was rather surprised that both races were green for the full duration. The same could not be said for the NASA US Touring Car Championship race that ended the day yesterday...

Cool, I’ve watched those WTCC sprints at Sears Point. Fun stuff. I was surprised that a Chevy Cruze won one (or maybe both) last year.

A Cruze won one of the races this year as well, driven by Tom Chilton. The second race went to a Honda (which clinched the manufacturers’ title for them). That car was driven by Gabriele Tarquini, who holds the record for most failed qualifying attempts in Formula One history. He’s been very successful as a touring car driver, though.
