Vanity: a very long time ago a man wrote a book titled "Alas Babylon". Although it was written long ago and in a much different time, it is revealing much to us during the current crisis. It told the story of a nuclear war that started in Syria, due to a US fighter accidently attacking a Russian military base. In the story, the two main characters used the words "alas babylon" as code for the last day. Is Babylon about to fall within the space of half an hour? Is that last day upon us?
Many authors, both of novels and screen, have had the ability to foresee the future, such as Jules Verne, the book about the Titan(ic), and xfiles spinoff the Lone Gunman (9-11). Will Alas Babylon be added to that list.

tonight i am reminded of the softly spoken words at the introduction of the Lord of the Rings by

perhaps dear leader is indeed a member of the muslim brotherhood. And, perhaps, saudi arabia’s Prince Bandar is the antichrist - utilizing dear leader as his false prophet. If so, he is doing is job well, ushering in chaos so the false prince of peace can secure safety for us all. And I would assume that for their plan to work the U.S. must, for the most part, be a non-functioning, non-interfering entity. The only sure way to do that is through a limited nuclear conflict. If so, kudos to the false prophet for playing his part so well. And shame upon those who fell under his hypnotic voice.

interesting sketch. I’m not sure most people realize how quickly this event could escalate. They are buried in their bread and circuses lifestyles. It is my understanding that the Russians have violated the various nuclear treaties, and have continued to develop new and more reliable warheads and icbms while we have not. So our failure rate will be high, theirs will not. Interestingly enough, my family has devised a codeword and evacauation plan with a final destination point in-country in a remote area friendly to us. Just hope we have time to get there.
Anyone who assumes that the Russians, Chinese, French, Pakistanis, Indians, Israelis and British will live up to any kind of nuclear treaties shouldn’t be trusted with a key to the washroom, much less the nuclear codes.
You might really want to ask what are the chances that they will stop. Looking at Bush’s history, the clintoons, and now the little barry bastard boy doing their bidding, I’m wonder if they will ever stop?
I’d say 100%.
Because of that book my best friend and I have a code word that we text each other when we need to call each other immediately. We simply text “Omaha” and the one receiving the text drops everything and calls.
My all-time favorite book growing up. Randy Bragg had quite a comfortable setup. Before the war I mean.

Coincidentally, I just finished reading Alas Babylon for about the 6th time. Was just a teen for the first reading. Especially important because we lived in Central Florida where there was survival. Anyone who believes in preparedness should immediately get the book and read it. Very compelling and waaay ahead of its time.
