In the darkness of a hotel parking lot, the fugitive task force moved quickly to stop the black pickup with the murder suspect riding inside.
Only their fugitive wasn't in the truck.
Instead, Henry Kiner, 27, was dressed in camouflage and perched on the hotel's second floor, where he used a shotgun to blast away at the unsuspecting task force members below, officials said.
Broward Sheriff Scott Israel called it an "ambush" that backfired when officers and deputies fired back toward the hotel, killing Kiner just outside Room 212 of the Days Inn in Oakland Park early Wednesday.

He now has a permanent residence at Motel 666.
A shotgun against SWAT with body armor and rifles. Suicide by cop.
well.. they were sneaking up on his truck trying to ambush him... and he ambushed them first. i’d say bad intel on their part.
of course, bad tactical decision on his part. then again, if he possessed clear thinking it’d be unlikely they’d be after him in the first place
he should have used the opportunity to escape. there is no winning a defensive battle with limited ammo, no backup, severely outnumbered, and all escape routes cut off
All while standing on a second floor hotel walkway with no cover and nowhere to run. A duck in a shooting gallery.
Shotgun on a balcony?
That’s what he gets for listening to Joe Biden.
4 miles from home....
shotguns are wonderful close range, home defense weapons, especially good against burglars and the like and with birdshot are deadly in close quarters without being able to pass through walls with any authority(thus protecting the innocent in adjacent rooms).
seems he was looking for death
Well he wasn’t a tactical genius, thats why he committed armed robbery instead of becoming a banker or a politician to rob people.
The big question is: Did Days Inn leave the light on for him?
