On my last flight there was this very attractive oriental flight attendant. She was a knockout.

Both pilots spent a fair amount of time outside the cockpit talking to her. This little 5 foot tall 90lb hottie was provind security in case someone charged the cockpit while the door was open.

couldn’t care less now. life on the ground is just fine.

when a loyal, peaceable American citizen can fly again without being physically groped or irradiated,
we will happily return to the air

(hopefully, advances in technology may make this possible...)

Back when I was flying Northwest every month or so, two ladies working the aisle wore identical name tags that read “O. Miss.”

I don’t fly anymore either and go to great lengths to avoid it.

The airlines have full planes largely by reducing schedules.
But they could have many more customers as soon as they (and.or the govt can) figure out how to fix the boarding snafu.

There are certain millions of us who have either stopped all flying or else have cut it back as much as humanly possible.

Not good for business. Not good for the larger American economy. Far from it.

John Wayne is especially bad because the rich folks who live near the airport don't like jet noise, so they have this noise abatement procedure where you basically have to turn the plane into a ballistic missile as soon as you're airborne."

Haha! I've been through that routine 4 times coming out of Santa Ana. Full throttle! What a rush...jumping off the runway...wheels up! Steep climb and just when you are about to relax, the engine whine goes down to a deep basso profundo and the bottom drops out. Your stomach catches up with the rest of your body just about the time they go back to full throttle.

On a side note...there is a FANTASTIC WWII Air museum there. Lyon Air Museum. They have two fully functional C47s...one that actually flew on D-Day. And they have a fully functional B-17. An A-26 "Invader", a B-25 "Mitchell" and so many other exhibits that are just fantastic. Definitely worth the trip. The best part are the old WWII vets who run the place. Stop and talk to them and you'll get an earful when they find out you love airplanes.

If I can’t drive there, I don’t go there.
Small benefit of self employment.
I can guarantee never to spend the night in an airport terminal.

They are right about John Wayne Airport. The noise regulations make takeoffs feel very unsafe.

NWA had a fleet of 727s and I really liked taking these airplanes. I understood they were fuel hogs which is why Northwest sold them off to Mexicana.

Wife and I flew an ex-Northwest Mexicana 727 from Mexico City to Ixtapa on a week when the big nearby volcano was giving off burps and smoke. The pilot apologized for the late take off and to make amends, he said he would show us the interior of the crater. He did; banking the airplane so we could look down into the pit. Smoke and sulfur smell filled the cabin and there were a few screams.
It was a memorable flight.

great pilot!

“...banking the airplane so we could look down into the pit. Smoke and sulfur smell filled the cabin and there were a few screams...”

but that sounds like my last flight from Pittsburg to Grand Rapids, excepting our pilot couldn’t find the volcano.. ha ha!

I am someone who used to fly 120+ flights a year and now ZERO simply because my government decided it was better to violate the 4th Amendment rights of Millions of REAL AMERICANs so they did not have to offend a few rag head filth.

I figure as long as the Mexican pilot didn’t fly the plane into the volcano, you had an excellent flight.
