to heck with the children - they should have been in bed by 7PM like I was when I was their age and I am a so called "elderly" man and I thought the little tramp was a joke and not at all a serious performer like I had seen in Olongapo City in the P.I. back in the day. . .
Color me amused but certainly not offended. Just because I eat off the Senior Menu at Coco's doesn't have to require me to be a fussbudgeting prude.

Geez.
I’m not criticizing her. I would be criticizing the Hollywood/Teen Media/Producers/Record company/ruling elite who had the child dancing naked for their entertainment.
The entertainment media/music media has a sordid reputation for sexual abuse of children.
Miley is just ‘acting it out’. You do what you know best, what you have been exposed to during your ‘formative’ years (around 6).

Is that French? I heard it while I was with my friend who came here from Canada. Race never entered my mind when I watched her act like a nasty pig slut. She is well on her way to being a Hollywood cum dumpster.

She is welcome to be as trashy as she likes as long as she does not use the TV to bring it into dens of children. These award ceremonies should come with an R rating.

Anyone else read this out of pure morbid fascination, to see how the WaPo guy tied this to racism? I came away convinced he doesn’t know the meaning of the word. Seriously.

"When the white, 20-year-old, former child star and daughter of a country singer goes on stage and does something that the so-called ruling classes deem unseemly, it starts a firestorm. When scores of young women across the globe take the stage to express themselves in exactly the same way at an EDM concert by Diplo, and plaster their exploits all over social networks, no one bats an eye. This pretty well spells it out I think. The author says that we're racist because we're only outraged when a "white, 20-year-old, former child star" performs that way, yet we don't "bat an eye" when other presumably non-white performers do.

What a load, did anyone see the faces of the spectators in the audience? I especially noted those of black people, and they were all in either disgust or disbelief.

She would fit the old joke about the who** when she returned from her nights work:
Pimp-”How much money did you make tonight”
Who** - “$50.10”
Pimp- Who was the cheap guy who gave you $0.10”
Who** - “They all did, said that was all I was worth”

No, it's about being the darling of pre-teen girls who looked up to her on the Disney show. Parents are wondering how to explain this to the children who idolized her.
Unless one is a supporter of sexualizing young girls at a vulnerable age, this can't be a good role model for little girls.
As to the charge of racism, does this writer want young black girls to continue acting this way? Does he believe that acting out this way is constructive? Or is he complaining about a racism that fears for Cyrus but not for black girls? If it's the latter, then he's not listening to people like O'Reilly, who has been crusading against the black hip-hop culture, and the disintegration of the black family for a long time.
