New Birthing Center Will Deliver Babies in One Room, Abort Them in Another
Life News ^ | Steven Ertelt

A new birthing center in Buffalo, New York will provide an alternative for women seeking to give birth outside of a hospital setting. But it will also do abortions — setting up a terrible irony. Babies will be welcomed into life in one room and, down the hall, their lives will be snuffed out in abortions.

From a local news report with more on this chilling paradox:

It will be only the third free-standing birthing center in New York State when it opens in November, offering nurse-midwifery services for low-risk pregnancies based on natural childbirth.

The birthing center also is likely to be the only one in the United States combined with an abortion clinic, as it is a project of Buffalo Womenservices, 2500 Main St.

Birthing centers are gaining in popularity in the United States. Advocates say they could cut the rate of cesarean sections and save money.

But not all doctors embrace the concept, and a center attached to an abortion clinic is a combination bound to surprise some people and upset others.

“It’s absolutely ludicrous that those who specialize in taking life claim they are qualified to help women give birth,” said Stasia Zoladz Vogel, president of the Buffalo Regional Right to Life Committee. “For anyone to entrust the birth of their child to a business that specializes in ending the life of infants in the womb is foolhardy at best and dangerous at worst.”

To those behind the facility, the location of the birthing center makes sense for philosophical and practical reasons.

“I see a connection between respecting a woman’s right to decide to end a pregnancy and her right to determine how she has her baby,” said Dr. Katharine Morrison, the obstetrician-gynecologist who has owned Buffalo Womenservices since 2005.

Morrison, who also runs an obstetrics practice at the abortion facility, made the case that women who obtain abortions are not a distinct group from those who give birth to babies.

“Both of these experiences – abortion and birth – can exist in a woman’s reproductive life,” she said. “Many mothers have had abortions or will have one.”

Kate Bauer, executive director of the American Association of Birth Centers in Perkiomenville, Pa., said she believes a facility offering both abortions and a birthing center will be “one of a kind” in the nation.

Ironically, abortions hurt the very women who will be attempting to give birth at the center — by increasing the risk associated with premature birth, for example.

In a fascinating new webinar sponsored by Heartbeat International and the Charlotte Lozier Institute, CLI adjunct scholar Dr. Elizabeth Johnson gave a fascinating presentation on induced abortion and the subsequent risk of pre-term birth.

In her talk, Dr. Johnson describes the serious public health concerns associated with pre-term birth and discusses the growing body of research on the topic as it relates to both clinical practice and a woman’s informed consent.

Pre-term birth is one of the most significant challenges facing the field of obstetrics and a serious public health issue. Pre-term birth is associated with substantial problems for families including significant infant mortality and morbidity, parental stressors, and financial burdens.

In the past few years, an ever-increasing number of studies have demonstrated that elective abortions in the first and second trimester are associated with an increased risk of subsequent spontaneous pre-term birth. A 2012 study published in the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which looked at 26 years of birth data, showed that a single induced abortion increased a woman’s risk of having a premature baby by 37%.

What was that Bible verse about drinking from the cup of God and the cup of the devil?

Gee, I hope a doctor working long hours doesn’t get confused and think: “Am I birthing or killing this one?”

Can you imagine a woman going into the wrong room?

Can you imagine any woman going there to give birth? Or have an abortion?

Pretty easy to spot the difference. When you enter the abortion room, you will sense an evil presence and smell of sulfur.

What if the woman intending to give birth is slightly out of it, and what if the staff are given the incentive for more money if they take women into the abortion room?

Is this something they’re serious about or is it just an effort to provide cover for planned parenthood because their stories of “...and we do breast exams too” are wearing a little thin. This would be like Jeffrey Dahmer opening a soup kitchen for the poor to cover for his cannibalism.

this is the new tactic of planned parenthood.

make abortion just another normal part of a woman’s reproductive life. don’t do it in a standalone butcher building with awful conditions and pervy slimy bottom of barrel’docs no hospitals want to deal with.

this is all about remaking the image of abortion to validate it as’legitimate medical care. fact women docs go along with and do them, it is extremely grotesque.

Sorry, how is this NOT textbook murder?

They’re terminating the life of a human being who was born. That’s a life by any and every definition, even the psychotic leftists.

When will we start murdering children over the age of 5 because parents don’t want them? Sorta like the HSUS or ASPCA folks who claim to be “no kill” shelters, but because no one wants to adopt a pit bull, they’re eventually put down.

My bet: blacks will be adversely affected.

Sounds like Christiana Health Center and Hospital in Wilmington, DE.

The hospital literally abuts a graveyard.

17 years ago I had an operation there and the doctor damned near killed me.

Simple laproscopic appendectomy = nicked vein, loss of over 1/2 my blood, cut from duodenum to pelvic bone so the Dr. could find what vein he cut.

Recovery amounted to me spending days walking the halls.

As I walked past a window one day I realized the hospital was directly joined by a graveyard.

It was winter and the weather, of course, gloomy.

I wanted out of there but, was unable to leave for some 9 days.

Weird thing to see from the hospital room.

I wondered if the Coroner and Medical Sciences were in the basement.

It’s not done to save money. It’s done to make abortion as normal and natural as childbirth. So the poor oppressed innocent woman burdened with a baby can drop it down the can and go home feeling good about herself.

Yes.

In Lethbridge, Alberta, there used to be a nursing home on the SE corner of 4th Street S and 6 Avenue S. It was owned by the same company that had a funeral parlour on the SW corner of 4th Street S and 6 Avenue S! So every morning, each resident of the nursing home could look out across the street and see where they would be heading, at least physically! How vile and tasteless!

I heard, though I cannot confirm it, that there was an underground tunnel connecting the two buildings, so staff could transport the deceased to the funeral home in comfort. Not sure if they are still in operation. Nothing about Lethbridge surprises me!

"What was that Bible verse about drinking from the cup of God and the cup of the devil?"

1 Corinthians 10:21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons.

There are women who realize their mistake of selecting abortion and are on the gurney being prepped for it she they decide they want their baby. Most times they are told to shut up and are given the abortion anyways.

Anything can happen when Obama is in charge of medicine.

I would think that this "eclectic" approach to maternity issues would be extremely upsetting to a loving young couple, happily expecting the delivery of a most welcome & Blessed addition to their love based family, hearing sounds of a completely different approach to motherhood, in a nearby room.

How carefully thought through this venture may be, probably depends upon the character of the planners. In charity, one will hope that they simply are deficient in empathy--rather than a much uglier interpretation.
