No, I’m not going to click on your video if you don’t tell me about what it is.

I used to enjoy sitting around the campfire and just enjoying companionship and conversation.

A few years ago I went to an informal gathering at a friend of a friend’s in NJ, and out back there was a campfire... I went out there and every single person sitting around the fire was texting or talking on their cellphone.

So I went home... downloaded some porn, rubbed one out, and went to bed.

I mean, seriously, what’s the point anymore? The video is spot on. There is a big problem in this country. Hey, at least the next time an airline hits a skyscraper it will instantly be uploaded to Youtube from 10,000 vantage points.

I am a Luddite when it comes to modern technology (even as I use a computer to post a comment on something on the net).

When it is all said and done I believe technology will have caused more harm then good.

Unfortunately we can not put the genie back in the bottle.

I am happy I am getting older as I will not be around to see the result of all this brave new world that technology is bringing.

Pretty good little video. Not side-splitting, but says a lot about how the desire to record the moment makes us miss it. Thanks.

I am grateful that my daughter didn’t get a phone until she was 17. Much special time would have been missed.

Have you ever read Ted Kacynski’s, manifesto?

The Uni-Bomber, while I disagree with his tactics, he nailed the problem.

May provide the starting ground.

And “Little Milton Bostock” may bring it home.

Theodore Kaczynski:

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF MODERN LEFTISM

Almost everyone will agree that we live in a deeply
troubled society. One of the most widespread manifestations
of the craziness of our world is leftism, so a discussion
of the psychology of leftism can serve as an introduction
to the discussion of the problems of modern society
in general.

There is some much more.

But what is leftism? During the first half of the
20th century leftism could have been practically identified
with socialism. Today the movement is fragmented and it
is not clear who can properly be called a leftist. When we
speak of leftists in this article we have in mind mainly socialists,
collectivists, “politically correct” types, feminists,
gay and disability activists, animal rights activists and the
like. But not everyone who is associated with one of these
movements is a leftist. What we are trying to get at in discussing
leftism is not so much movement or an ideology
as a psychological type, or rather a collection of related
types. Thus, what we mean by “leftism” will emerge more
clearly in the course of our discussion of leftist psychology

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF MODERN LEFTISM

Continued: By Theodore Kaczynski

FEELINGS OF INFERIORITY

By “feelings of inferiority” we mean not only inferiority
feelings in the strict sense but a whole spectrum
of related traits; low self-esteem, feelings of powerlessness,
depressive tendencies, defeatism, guilt, self-hatred,
etc. We argue that modern leftists tend to have some such
1
feelings (possibly more or less repressed) and that these
feelings are decisive in determining the direction of modern
leftism.
