There is a secret sauce for the weak to beat the strong, say those who have studied and participated in successful nonviolent social movements. The lessons from the March on Washington and other movements throughout history offer clues. Nothing in politics happens by accident. The article describes several events in recent political history that were the result many years of planning by the left. Conservatives can learn a lot by watching how the left gets things done.

This is a good post.

The poster will either put together a good explanation, during which he will explain what he / she is all about and why as a new FReeper their opinions add to the wide variety of viewpoints on this site.

Along with a link to an article which authentically improves the state of discussion around here.

Or not.

I for one hope for the first though.

A blog is being pimped, apparently. This one isn’t even doing it right. I’m sure he’ll be along with a link momentarily, then there will be much rejoicing.

For sure, conservatives need to take “the long view.” Vaulting a rising star into the Presidency won’t do it. Too many of us are still engaged in thinking that one star vaulted into the top office will somehow bring sweeping and lasting changes.

Political and cultural change influence each other, but in the final analysis cultural change determines politics, not the other way around.

Conservatives have fought the cultural war on the political battlefield, which is in the long run irrelevant.

I don’t know how to begin retaking lose cultural ground, but it’s the only thing that really matters.

Say what we will about the useful idiots, but could learn a lot from their tactics, as long as we keep it peaceful and civilized.

I totally disagree with rules 1-4.

Or would if I knew what they were.

1. Don’t get seduced by spontaneity...

2. Make policy, not noise...

3. Redefine the meaning of punishment...

“As dark as things may seem at a given moment,” he says, “things can change very rapidly when a social movement takes off.”

...

“The redefinition goes like this: No punishment anyone can lay on me can possibly be any worse than the punishment I lay on myself by conspiring in my own diminishment.”

4. Divide the elites

It’s easy to demonize “The Man” if you’re talking with friends in a late-night dorm room rap session. But you’re going to need “The Man” if you’re going to beat “The Man,” some historians say.
