I can’t wait to see the photos but it sounds like a sequel to the old silent movie..”The Return of the Mutant Corn”. We are eating fresh corn every night and will be sharing with family this weekend. The variety is Revelation a short season hybrid
Germination for Zinnias is 4-9 days.
Germination for flower mix to attract Hummingbird/Butterfly is mixed due to the seeds being a mix of different flowers.
Thanks Applegate. I have 2 huge tires and about 4 bags of rabbit pellets, lots of old hay and a LOT of compost. I’ll do the tire bit until hubby has the time to put together the “potato” stack for the community garden. My sweet potatoes are doing beautifully in my Community Garden Keyhole garden
and my black diamond watermelons are blooming and climbing the rebar arks that I use to cover the garden during hot weather and cold. I understand black diamonds get quite large, so I’ll need a good sized bags for the ones I’ll allow to fruit. I’m going to start pulling the flowers as soon as I see some fruit begin. Gardening is fun.
In the coming couple of weeks a fellow has offered to cut and plow our community garden, then we’ll put together the forms for the raised gardens and widen the paths between. We’ve been lucky, I’m told...we’ve not run into any snakes and have not found any snails..thank goodness.
Any good ideas for over-wintering seed potatoes?
I have some excellent finger taters, a bunch of small ones, and would like to not have to buy more next spring...
Purple hulls are like black eyed peas, except where the brown is there is purple. I can’t tell the difference in taste, but hubby says he can. They are beans up north, but in the south the hot weather beans are peas.
I just saw my FIRST black diamond watermelon. I’ll need some strong panty hose for those babies. In fact I bought the black diamond today, it’s resting in ice right now. That will be hubbie’s and my dinner. It is big. OH well, I’ve always dreamt big.
