Jagger is most underappreciated as a lyrics writer, in my opinion.
1980 “She’s So Cold” is in their top five songs.
Past their peak but a damm good swan song.
Sticky Fingers is #1 and Let It Bleed #2 in the Suhks household.
Was that the same night he hosted SNL? If so, he was hysterical.
The Stones are one of the few bands I haven’t seen live. I thought I wanted to see them, but have changed my mind.
The two bands that I went to see several years ago, The Moody Blues and The Who, made me wonder who those guys were. And more importantly...who the heck was I? lol.
Some Girls was the last good album they put out.
Jagger/Richards is like Lennon/McCartney.....two extremely different personalities that somehow come up with good stuff, and each is good at filtering the others’ crap.
I just listened to Goats Head Soup start to finish tonight - very underrated album. And yes, star fu**er, star fu**er, etc. isn’t safe for work today. But I’ll bet it was in 1973.
That’s right. And Macca recently said that he regretted ever agreeing to sharing songwriter credits with Lennon. Go figure.
Richard’s “Life” is one of the best autobiographies I’ve ever read.
The guy, despite all the drugs, is as sharp as a tack.
Read it. You’re correct. Bill Wyman is said to be writing one, too.
I bought ‘Sticky Fingers’ at a HMV record Shop in London in April 1971. Got back to the US with it and it hadn’t been released in America yet. It was pretty cool being the only kid in the neighborhood with the new Stones LP, even if it was only for a few days. Still have that record, right in the stack of crates behind me.
Wyman’s already written one auto biography. What else does he have to say?
The Rolling Stones...The best rock band ever
I know. He’s published at least two books, maybe even three of memoriabilia. I’m repeating what I heard recently. This one is supposed to be a ‘tell-all’, and Sir Mick, who I bet will never write one, is reportedly not too happy about Wyman’s new book.
Mick certainly wasn’t happy with Keef’s book.
Have you read Jimmy Phelge’s book “Nankering with the Rolling Stones”? That’s a good one, now retitled and republished. It’s worth looking up. On the other hand, I’ve only heard bad things about Loog Oldham’s book.
Yeah, Mick doesn’t do books. He always claims the book would be boring and non-important.
People knock him on here, but I think he’s a very conservative guy. London School of Economics and all.
He runs an empire. The logistics of these tours are amazing. He sees that managers and attorneys oversee everything and they do it in a manner that produces no waste. No one’s standing around, in other words.
I hope there’s a film some day about the Hyde Park shows a few weeks ago. 100K+ in attendance.
And he obviously has been taking very good care of himself, at least since the mid-70s, I’m sure he indulged in the early days, but he knew if he wanted to keep doing what he’s been doing, he needed to take better care of himself.
This tour he has averaged 12 miles per show. What’s that maybe 2.5 hours?
Some of the detractors here couldn’t do 1.2 miles in 2.5 hours.
I saw ‘Sticky Fingers’ for the first time at a kiosk in Ocean City, MD. Believe it had a brass zipper on blue jeans.
I bought ‘Hot Rocks’ on cassette not long after. Believe that was their first compilation and I wore it out.
