El Paso and Chula Vista both have something in common. Both have state of the art border fences, lighting and border technology. They also have in addition to local police, a great host of board Border Patrol Agents who like nothing better than helping out the locals.

When the locals call for assistance in either of these towns a great number of “green-shirts” converge from all directions to help out. The BP helicopters are a great thing to have around as well.

I call BS on Virginia Beach too. Incidents with the Amish there are well-known.

I spent a night in El Paso years ago during a cross country move. Just outside of town was a boarder patrol check stop. As we slowed to pull over at the checkpoint, I started to get real anxious. I had not checked the U-Haul trailer I was towing before leaving the hotel. I pictured an agent asking me to open the trailer and finding the lock was not there or something. "Officer, this is not my trailer and I have no idea what's in it."

I was impressed with El Paso.

How’s the weather out there during the summer months?

It keeps the riff raff and relatives away.

Chula Vista, CA is a suburb of San Diego, CA. You can’t really tell where one ends and the other begins.

And, El Paso, safe? I thought it was in Mexico now...

I seem to recall Spring Break in VB is filled with Obama sons tearing up the place. I went looking for the threads about that, but found nothing.

I believe there are a lot of local black colleges, but I don’t know for sure.

14. El Paso, Texas has a murder rate 28% below average; rape rate 2% above average; and robbery rate 39% below national average.

El Paso is neither large NOR safe. There is a military base there so that may account for a lower crime rate, if it is in fact true.

Laugh all you want to. But facts are stubborn things.

Look upthread at people who know. El Paso is safe based on a well organized police department, the Militay presence, the Border Patrol and other positives.

Certainly not in the area of Rosa's Cantina.

Is that the same place where a wild young cowboy was sharing a drink with wicked Felina?

My former asst. Security Manager is now a Sargent on the border at El Paso.. He tells me it’s a War Zone and they are ordered not to document any of it.. Sorry, I get it from the front.. :)

You are lucky you did not reach your destination and find 30 to 40 illegals in the back.

Chula Vista is near the Mexican border but it does not have the feeling of a border town (from my experience having been there frequently).

Things must’ve changed - the town seemed sketchy back in the eighties.

Well known to locals but suppressed by local media. As the poster knows, they had one at the beach (small riot) a couple months ago that people outside of Hampton Roads (area name) VA probably have not heard of.

I believe his love for her was stronger than his fear of death. That’s what Bob Weir told me a bunch of times. He heard it from Marty Robbins so it must have been true...

We’re #6 - and rightfully so. Thanks to Scottsdale’s racial demographics, Arizona’s gun laws, and Sheriff Joe - who scares away California liberals. :)
