Kaleena Ladeairous and Josh Bridges take 1st for "Naughty Nancy."

For the women, Sam Briggs came in 2nd whereas Christy Phillips (took over 1st overall last night) tied for 26th. Briggs now has a 49-point lead over 2nd place overall Alessandra Pichelli.

For the men, thanks to back-to-back victories, Bridges has jumped several places to 5th overall. Froning came in 2nd and Khalipa came in 3rd, allowing Froning to gain five points on him. 2nd-place overall Garrett Fisher came in 6th place on "Naughty Nancy" which moved him to 3rd overall and Rich to 2nd overall, just 11 points behind Khalipa!

Current Standings:

Men:
1st Place--Jason Khalipa (498 points)
2nd Place--Rich Froning (487 points)
3rd Place--Garret Fisher (470 points)

Lucas Parker and Aja Barto tied for 1st in the "Clean and Jerk Ladder" event for the men by hitting a 345lb C&J and moving on to clean 355lb!

Amanda Goodman won the women's event. Christy Phillips, still in 3rd overall, closed the gap down to 1 point behind 2nd overall Alessandra Pichelli. Lindsey Valenzuela (known for her lifting in CrossFit land--see "Lift Like Lindsey!") tied for 2nd in the event and is now solidly in 4th overall.

Froning came in 3rd in the event (345lb), but Khalipa tied for 7th (335lb). This now puts Froning in 1st overall by 6 points!

Up next:

2007

3:10PM Pacific

For Time:
Row 1000m

Then,

5 Rounds:
25 Pull-ups
7 Push Jerks (135lb/85lb)

This event is the very first CrossFit Games workout ever from back in 2007. For the uninitiated, there is nearly always a recycled workout in the Open, Regionals, and even the Games from a previous year in order to provide some hard data on athletic performance improvements as people train using the CrossFit methodology year after year.

Evidently the timeline put out on the CrossFit Games site was WAY wrong!

Valerie Voboril and Josh Bridges won "2007" last night. The winning time for this WOD in the 2007 Games was 13:07 set by Brett Marshall (the winning women's time was over 16 minutes). Voboril took the event in the last heat with a time of 9:48 and Bridges won with a time of 8:33. Only one woman missed the 15-min time cap, but she was only a few reps shy of completion, so I think it's safe to say that the fitness level of Games athletes has improved significantly since 2007!

Froning increased his lead over Khalipa from 6 points to 22 points, and Bridges' victories yesterday have moved him up to 6th overall.

Briggs is still in 1st overall, and Voboril's performance yesterday has moved her into 3rd overall above Christy Phillips. Even though Voboril and Phillips have the same number of points, Voboril is ranked above Phillips due to her 1st place finish last night in "2007."

28 JULY (SUNDAY)

SPRINT CHIPPER

11AM Pacific

21 Med Ball GHD Sit-ups
15 Snatches
9 Wall Burpees

Top 30 Men and Top 30 Women Advance to the Final

And the winners of the “Sprint Chipper” are Rich Froning and Sam Briggs, also our two overall 1st place athletes!

Jason Khalipa came in 4th place which extended Froning’s overall lead from 22 points to 37 points. Garrett Fisher is still in 3rd overall, but Ben Smith is only 5 points behind him.

Christy Phillips placed 26th, dropping her to overall 6th place. However, Lindsey Valenzuela came in at 9th which moved her up to 3rd overall.

I can do it, but the weighted pistols would kill me. I can’t handstand walk. I can’t do muscle-ups (yet). I might be able to kip a couple of deficit HSPUs, but that’s a big “might.” I’ve done overhead lunges before, but only with a 45lb plate.

This is gonna be a bastard of a workout.

I did 365 once and strained a tendon in my foot. I’m only 190lbs at 6’2”. I can do the muscle ups and HSPU though.

Ah, I gotcha. I’m 6’, 250lb, so the weight-lifting stuff is fairly easy for me. Gymnastics and metcon kick my butt (although I’m improving steadily on the gymnastics piece).
