Forida linebacker arrested for barking at police dog

It hasn’t been a great summer for football players from Florida.

A current linebacker for the Gators is the latest to find himself on the wrong side of the law.

His crime? Barking at a police dog.

While police were checking out a disturbance at an after-hours club, Antonio Morrison approached a police vehicle and made a ‘woof-woof’ sound at a canine in the back seat according to the Orlando Sentinel.

That was enough to put him behind bars. Morrison was arrested and charged with interfering with police by harassing a police animal and resisting arrest without violence. He was released from the custody of the Alachua County jail this morning.

At a minimum, Morrison will be suspended for two games according to Florida coach Will Muschamp.

“I’m extremely disappointed in Antonio Morrison’s decision making. He has been suspended from the team and will miss at least two games to begin the season.”

He was previously arrested June 16 for allegedly hitting a bouncer at a night club.

How do the cops know what he barked was harrassing? He may have been saying “Hello fine fellow, are you having a nice evening?” in dog language. Maybe Doctor Dolittle could be an expert witness. (The courtroom scene in the musical was hilarious)

If a cop shoots your dog for no reason it is just too bad. If you were to shoot a cop’s dog you would probably be charged with murder.

Woof woof and go to jail. Have your dog shot by a cop , just tough s..t.

Don’t mess with the privileged class!

He wasn’t barking at the dog, he was barking with the dog...

Teasing animals is dumb.

However I have been walking past a car minding my own business when all of a sudden out of nowhere a dog would hit the window growing like crazy and almost scare the pee out of me. Police have their dog in the car for a reason, but most dogs would just as soon stay home. Why don’t people leave them there instead of in their cars with the windows rolled up.

You have a First Amendment right to call
the badgemonkey an evil pig....and you have
a First Amendment right to make “woof woof”
noises at their dogs.

As juvenile as the conduct may be it is NOT
illegal and the officer is the criminal for
abusing his authority.

Hell, he or she can shoot you anytime it pleases him/her. And after filling you full of holes, just say, " I was in fear of my life."

This day and age, it is best to stay far from them. If you happen to be some place and they appear, find some other place to be. You will live longer practicing that. Like everything else, the police are not what they used to be.

It is my understanding that police dogs are considered fellow officers, so, yes, barking at one or disrespecting one can land you in jail.

Last time I checked, it wasn't illegal to disrespect an officer of the law.

“Morrison was arrested and charged with interfering with police by harassing a police animal and resisting arrest without violence.”....

For “barking” at a policeman and is dog? Seriously?

(I burst out laughing when I read that article. Can’t you just visulaize that happening?)

Police need a sense of humor these days, things are too tense.

This is the most farcical thing I have read in the last 30 seconds.

(It's getting *that* crazy out there.)

I would insist, as the defense attorney, on ordering the dog to produce his complaint, by filing a Habeaus Canus petition.

Yet, they have no problem whatsoever with killing your dog for any reason or even no reason at all, because it’s only a dog.

Can “oinking” at a pig get you put in jail?

I'll never forget the time when my border collie spoke to me. I was sitting in my yard on a hot day reading a book in the shade when she strolled right up to me and start yapping about how hot she was and how she wanted some cold water.

I didn't have her arrested but I was pissed that she would have the audacity to speak to me as though she was another human.

She didn't get her water until she went back to whining plaintively - like a proper dog should.
