NY STATE GUN BAN
self | 7/21/13 | self

NY State banned many firearms some time ago and even required they be turned in (as I recall). Haven't heard a word about that since. What's going on there?

My county, 96% white, 1% black, 2-3% other (Hispanics mostly). Hell, I can drive some of the backroads here and still see Rebel Flags and outposts with signs that have all kinds of retro things on them. Not hardly.

There are perhaps 6 or 8 metro counties where Yankees now live. Metro Atlanta. There are over 150 other Georgia Counties, most of whose residents would likely frown or spit when you say “Atlanta.”

I don’t blame you. I am always looking for ways to leave NY. We are somewhat entrenched with 2 kids in school, good job here, and a house. However, if the right opportunity comes along, I will not hesitate.

Running isn’t always the answer, but in the case of NY, fighting will not change anything except my health, for the worse. Until the SCOTUS does their job and gives us some specifics on the limits of the 2nd Amendment, this s*** will just continue. Even if the pending lawsuits are successful they will take years to complete. By then the NY tyrants will have come up with some other law that then has to make its way through the courts. The other hope is that NYC gets inundated with a tsunami. But that is just a dream.

All it takes is a large metropolitan area to influence the laws all over the state (Atlanta!). If you think upstate/western NY is anything like New York City, you are mistaken. Outside the urban areas this state is quite conservative. Doesn’t matter. The communists infesting NYC make it impossible for the rest of us to live as we want.

It can, and likely will, happen to GA too, as the demographics change. Hint: they are not changing in our favor. I didn’t say it was happening next week but check back in a decade or two.

And don’t load any mags with more than 7 rounds...unless you are one of the “only ones”, of course!

My wife and I left family and friend to flee NY decades ago. It was like emerging from a bad dream after seeing the freedoms of other states (I've lived in 2 Red states since then). My relatives are still conservative, but under the spell and powerless. Albany and NYC owns the state and its people. Just try to buck the pols and you'll get b!tchslapped like you wouldn't think possible. Freedom does not exist in NY, no matter what the pols keep chanting...

Escape while you still can...

There are not enough people in Atlanta or the few surrounding metro counties to do what you say. I know the influence of NYC and Buffalo etc has on state politics, but there are still just too many other counties and people that aren’t associated with that. NYC is a foreign country and nearly responsible for the entire state’s woes. They can’t pack 7-10 million in Atlanta - EVER.

Atlanta, because it is so corrupt can’t even attract any new residents but the stupid and gullible and they quickly learn.

The truth is there are more in the surrounding non-Atlanta Metro counties, even if they are mostly out-of-staters, and they never vote the same way as Atlanta Citizens. The liberal block is DeKalb and Fulton and some parts of other surrounding counties but not many. Macon, Columbus etc are liberal but won’t outnumber non-urban city counties.

Georgia is never going to be like your New York. Your one big city is responsible for it all.

you can load over 7 at legal range.

of course all my 1911 mags are 8 rounds and if inadvertently load 8 I am a felon....If I then chamber the 8th round, I am not.

I loathe the entire Cuomo Clan....

After the last elections, I wonder if that is true even in the Red states...

It wasn’t Georgia that lost the election for the GOP...we may be pissed at our Representatives (most GOP) and Senators (both are RINOs) but our legislature, governorship and Congressional delegations are majority Republican.

We have Hank Johnson, the idiot who thinks islands float, John Lewis about whom I won’t comment out of respect for the injured, and one or two other Democrats in Congress but they are limited.

With the SC ruling on the voting rights act, I don’t see them bullying their way to any more convoluted minority black districts like Cynthia McKinney’s district was any more.

The battle here is not stopping, we are fighting everywhere but Albany continues to ignore the 52 out of 62 counties that have voted against UN-SAFE. We continue to have protests, rallies and getting in the faces of our politicians.

This is what we did in Erie County, forced the legislature to vote against safe, took 2 democrats with us while Cuomo and Schumer were in town.

You mention minimal compliance. Is there an indication of any compliance? I have tried to find this but have come up dry.

My local once a week paper occasionally has an update from the Country Sheriff’s office. They give a pretty good snapshot of the business they did over a month. One of the statistics they provide is the number of pistol permits and pistol permit amendments they process. Nothing about registering the now evil aemi-autos. I wonder if that is zero for my county.

the 8 rounders are from colt and fit flush with my bone stock 1943 Remington Rand. I had though only 7 rounders fit flush but these hold 8 and work first time every time.

there are 40 round drum mags for the 1911....I don’t think the son of Mario will allow those....

I hear you. Now that NC has a Republican governor and we have a chance to dump our deep-blue senator Hagen, I see us turning from a purple state to a redder hue. Even the pinko areas of central NC are starting to realize that zero has sold them down the river. Already the new administration is enacting all kinds of tax incentive laws to boost the states economy and draw in companies from other states (Welcome Ruger!). It's funny to watch the NAACP/OWS/Commie professional protester-types marching in downtown Raleigh each week to protest the "cuts to the poor!" when the opportunities are opening up left and right.

I do so love it when a plan comes together...!
