A Florida company that specializes in animations that re-create crimes and accidents has released its animated take on the crash landing of Asiana Flight 214 at SFO earlier this month. Eyewitness Animations, which has been doing the animations for court cases and accident investigations for 23 years, shows the final 40 seconds of the Boeing 777's flight to San Francisco and includes a "ghost airplane" in the sequence showing the proper flight path of the airliner.

This looks pretty accurate as to what happened.

Notice how badly he mis-judged the area of the runway where he’s supposed to touch down. It’s all black from tire marks of other planes landing. How hard is it to miss that ?

Totally botched landing.

I can’t take the credit for it. KTVU-TV actually ran that as a story. Check YouTube for the video.

“Im sitting on an airline at the gate watching this on my cell phone.”

Show it to an attendant, see if they kick you off.

I really don't care who he was, when he let his airplane get to slow at that altitude it was all over, he was committed to a crash.

"...Ain't technology grand..."( sigh) Not always..

Don't know if you remember the 1970 crash of an American DC-10 just after takeoff from O'Hare, when one engine fell off the wing, killing 277 on board, as well as several on the ground.

A few months prior to the crash, American, and a few other airlines, had begun placing TV cameras in the cockpits, so that passengers could watch the take-offs and landings on the little screens placed throughout the cabin. This had quickly proven to be very popular with passengers. I'd been on several flights with that system, and always enjoyed the experience, especially the landing sequence.

Thus, it was assumed by investigators that the system was operational during the take-off, and given that the crew would be so busy dealing with the emergency that they wouldn't have time to turn it off, it was likely that all the passengers were all "watching" as the plane rolled over and crashed.

If he had not pulled the nose up...it would have been really bad.

Actually, it seems the attempt to abort was the issue. They probably would have been fine, but he pitched up the nose too high, causing the tail to hit the runway edge.
