The city of Pasadena broke the record for the number of mariachis playing in a single location on Sunday, hosting a performance by 566 musicians at the Rose Bowl.
The five-minute serenade, staged during halftime of the Mexico vs. Panama match of the 2013 Gold Cup, beat the previous record set three years ago, when 555 mariachis appeared at a conference in Tucson. Guinness World Records officials were at the stadium to mark the new record, said Pasadena city spokesman William Boyer.

Heard about it. Wondered why the record was set here and not in Mexico City.
Pasadena, Mexico. (Or is it Pasadena, Panama?)
Translation of the lyrics: "They caught me on my knees adoring Jesus Christ"
South Pasadena is OK, but Pasadena inner is...well, a classier East L.A.
Aye Yie Yie!!!
It ain’t mariachi without whales.
Same thing only difference is coordinates.
Diversity and assimilation, all at once. Can we be done with this now?
Beautiful song. Thanks for posting.
Have no fear. Sharia law will outlaw it soon.
I saw this game. Heavily favored Mexico was upset by Panama 2-1. For the last five minutes the game kept getting interrupted as drunken Mexican fans kept running onto the field.
In each case Rose Bowl security promptly tackled the offender and removed them.
I am prepared to support an Amendment turning enforcement of our borders over to the Rose Bowl security staff. Seems they are up to the task.
On the same day,a bit to the east,a record number of "mariachis" swam the Rio Grande.
