After watching former Vice President Dick Cheney I'm very disappointed.
He defended the NSA Surveillance Program by saying he started it in 2004.
But what Cheney fails to realize is.. he and George W. Bush are NOT in office anymore.
Whatever the program was, when he was in charge has been CHANGED and EXPANDED.
Obama is now in charge and Cheney is out of the national security loop. How can he defend this program?
I love Dick Cheney but this is beyond the pale!
I’ve always respected Cheney as a man who was straight-forward and spoke honestly. I’ve found that people who are naturally honest expect honesty from others. Perhaps its just too engrained in him that the government is there to protect and not do harm. Unfortunately, he needs to come to grips with reality. We can no longer afford to trust our government...AT ALL on ANYTHING!
He's been saying he's for a more powerful executive branch for years. What do you think he meant by that?
Would you really want him to say, "I've always been for a powerful, intrusive spying apparatus at home and abroad, but I'm going to renounce this and attack Obama for purely political reasons?" Would that make you happy?
Are you smart enough to understand that King was only telling half the story?
It’s time for you to understand what Hoover figured out nearly a hundred years ago: knowledge is power, but don’t forget to stroke the ego. These kind of agencies do whatever they want, and part of what they want is to do “favors” for whoever thinks they’re in charge, it keeps them happy and malleable, it’s the carrot. Of course you also have pictures of them doing bad things, so there’s the stick. Anybody that doesn’t get in the NSA’s way will get information from this program. Obama, Bush, King, Cheney. It’s the carrot.
I would hope that he would understand that.. Obama has lost all cred among the American public.
So how could he, Obama, be trusted with this information?????
He can’t!
Its probably true, then, that Cheney feels loyalty towards the ruling elite.
Perhaps, once you’re that high up in government and are able to see ALL the threats.. it makes you think differently.
But at the same time.. we should not be sacrificing liberty for safety.
Uh, with all due respect Mr. Cheney, will the guys be able to have bullets when they go to intervene?/s kind of.
When Cheney says it’s ok to intervene, will the brains behind the oval office do the opposite or will they go halfway out like in the Stan...with limited rules of engagement. Al Qaeda target practice. I need a cigarette.
I’m having a hard time with this one. I felt like I trusted Cheney.
He may have been trustworthy. But the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave is absolutely NOT to be trusted with anything.
Cheney works for the same guys as Obama does.

Cheney needs to talk to Jim Sensenbrenner. The senator believes the eavesdropping program has been perverted all beyond its original form.
I always felt like Cheney was concerned about keeping us safe.
But this is insanity. Can’t have the government with this much power.
I wonder if Cheney was able to see EXACTLY how this program is being used now if he would change his mind?

I have to agree with you. I had him up on a high pedestal as well. But he’s falling quickly.
He’s just plain old.
But he inherited that from Bush, who put Islam above all other religions.
Yes but I think Obama has taken his Muslim loving ways to a whole new level.
Sorry but the surveillance was wrong then and it's wrong now.
