CA:Homeowner Versus Gang Members
KMJ News ^ | 27 May, 2013 | NA

A homeowner takes matters into his own hands in a confrontation with gang members.

The strange encounter happened Sunday around 6:45 p.m. north of Augusta near Gettysburg.

Fresno Police Lieutenant Joe Gomez said three bulldog gang members parked across from the homeowner's residence and two of them walked up to the side of the house.

"The homeowner was inside, he saw them and he went out to confront the bulldog gang members, and he had a machete," Gomez said.

Gomez said a fight ensued and one of the bulldogs grabbed a bat from their car and struck the homeowner in the hand where he was holding the machete.

"The homeowner tells his wife to go inside and grab his rifle. Wife brings out his rifle, the fight's still going on and the homeowner shoots one of the bulldogs in the torso."

Felons need protection too . . . clearly he did.

I'd rather be a live felon than a dead one. Just sayin' though I suppose the right thing to do is petition to have your civil rights restored. Though they might kill you while you're waiting for a response.

I wonder if he belongs to a rival gang? Maybe the Bulldogs and the Pugs.

He should have said that the rifle belonged to his wife.

California is so progressive that it won’t give convicted felons the right to own a gun, but wants to give them the right to vote.

Go figure!

On second thought, it’s California. Nothing makes any rational sense out there.

Surprised they did not refer to the gangbangers as “honor students at Fresno State” (they were Bulldogs)

...I suppose the right thing to do is petition to have your civil rights restored.

There is, as I recall, a process to petition the ATF for this. There are $0.00 allocated for carrying out the process, so in practice is does not exist.

If you are a felon, you cannot even be in the same location as any firearm or ammunition.

The way things are going with increased criminalization of acts and organizations willing to entrap (like Big Sis and the Just-us Dept), we’ll all soon be felons.

Ex-cons who want to go straight are big believers in the importance of guns. They also know that prison is for the living, which beats the heck out of the alternative.

It will be interesting to see what the backstory is here, if it is ever published.

The strange encounter...

That is what we are dealing with, folks. The fact that someone of the educated class, in this case a journalist, would believe it strange that a homeowner would confront three trespassers in order to determine whether they were up to no good.

The journalist would no doubt argue a homeowner in such case should hide in shelter until the police arrived, if they did. There is a vulgar phrase for such an argument..

I would say that varies by state.

On second thought, it’s California. Nothing makes any rational sense out there.

It makes perfect sense. It's about Democrats winning elections. That's all that matters.

Fresno is like a smaller version of Detroit - you go downtown and all the businesses are boarded up. The streets are empty with the exception of hoodlums walking around in packs looking for someone to rob or something to steal.

The homeowner/ex-felon is barred from living in the same house where a firearm is present under Kalifornia law, so he’s likely going back to Prison.

three bulldog gang members

Does this gang spell its name in lower case? Or do the members even know what that means. Or does the reporter know what that means?
