THE BRONX, NYC, NY -- After a year of public outrage and legal proceedings, a judge has simply thrown out the indictment of Officer Richard Haste, who gunned down an unarmed man inside his own home, without a warrant. Haste was facing manslaughter charges until the judge tossed the indictment.

In February 2012, police broke into the home of 18-year-old Ramarley Graham without a warrant, did not announce themselves as police, shoved guns in the faces of the residents and ultimately gunned down Graham for no reason.

I watched the video, the cops were after a suspected drug dealer. Once he is in the building and surrounded, there was no need for a forced entry.

How many people in that building including cops could have been killed?

It was damned irresponsible and illegal to enter that building.

We live in a police state. I was driving to work last week and the popo were doing car searches at the stop light under the pretext of handing out a pamphlet and stating just want to let you know the fines have gone up for seatbelt violations.........walking from car to car eyeballing the passenger compartment for contraband......... chilling

You do realize how easy it would be for the police to murder you, plant drugs in your home, and claim you were a “suspected drug dealer”, do you not?

Nowhere does the article or video claim that the victim was a drug dealer, suspected or otherwise.

Nowhere is he accused of a violent crime.

You should think about what you are defending-—remember, the same tactics will be used against Freepers one day. Be careful what you cheer today.

Seriously, this is a bad precedent.

Fools believe the WOD is protecting them from drugs despite the evidence that decades of police roadblocks, forced entry, murders, and pet-stompings have hardly changed the fact that millions choose to buy and use drugs.

It is just as evil, stupid, and useless as the Prohibition era.

BUt the control freaks and statists simply can’t abide freedom.

have no problem with the death penalty for drug dealers who illegally sell Schedule III drugs...

Please reexamine your position. Just this month we have learned that the IRS, FBI, Homeland Security, and OSHA has **ABSOLUTELY** and **VERIFIABLY** targeted specific political opponents of the current president. Coordination of so many agencies could only have come from the highest levels. IT HAPPENED! Do you honestly believe that these EVIL people aren't completely capable of planting drugs on anyone they want eliminated?

Trillions have been spent on a futile War on Drugs and the street price of drugs has not risen one bit. This means that all those trillions were a complete waste in terms of reducing access to drugs. Even little ole' me ( a 65 year old middle class white grandmom) could **easily ** figure out how to get illegal drugs in about a half hour.

It is time we gave up the War on Drugs and focused on treatment and treated drug abuse in the same manner that we do alcohol abuse.

Indeed!

The money is merely spent to provide government jobs and Democrat votes.

So your position would be to legalize all Schedule III narcotics? Maybe we could have Needle parks like they do in the Netherlands.

Spoken like a true libertarian. Please try to remember Ron Paul lost.

The way for drug dealers to avoid such misunderstandings is to remain motionless when cops are within several yards trying to arrest them.

Maybe he was new to the game, did not know that the cop was just itching to kill some one or scared stupid.

Please do not send messages to me. (This is the latest of many requests.)

My wish it not to shut down discussion, so you have my full permission to comment in any manner on my posts and threads. As has been explained to you **MANY** times it is possible to do this by simply posting to “all” or your own name.

Obviously, you can ignore my request and continue to pester me with your messages. If you do, though, it is possible that some on Free Republic might conclude that government school teachers are stalkers and bullies.

Politely,

Wintertime.

I agree, quit spending money on the drug war, it is only for the purpose of employment of the people in law enforcement.

The thousands of Government agency,s are for one purpose and it has nothing to do with safety as they would have people believe, it is for complete control over every aspect of every ones lives.

Laws are not about right or wrong,in many peoples mind being legal it is right or being illegal it is wrong, just a way to collect more taxes to feed a Government that is already much too big.

Simply put, the judge *had* to throw out the indictment, because the prosecutor made a fatal error when presenting the case to the grand jury. However, the judge’s order was not “with prejudice”, so the case can and will be refiled before another grand jury.

The prosecutor’s error was that he did not present the recorded-on-police-radio instructions to the officer who shot the suspect. That was it, but yes, it is a serious flaw to an indictment. No way could that indictment have survived into trial.

The “they had no warrant” charge was bogus, because they were in pursuit, so they didn’t need a warrant.

What matters is that the officer legitimately *thought* he was armed, so if he made any movement that looked like he was pulling a gun, the shooting was legitimate.

The police were not in pursuit.

The young man is clearly strolling into his residence, not fleeing.

One could make a case that the police were *watching* the residence and then *stormed* it.

But the claim that they were in hot pursuit of a man (seriously? They’re “in hot pursuit” and can’t catch a man at a leisurely stroll?) is suspect at best.

Don’t justify the criminal actions of government employees.

I guarantee the same setup could be used against any Freeper here—storm the residence, claim to be in hot pursuit of Freeper X, shoot Freeper X without a warrant.

Let’s nip this in the bud now, before it is used against us.

As YOU pointed out to a numnber (sic, the word is spelled number. You would think that a homeschooling advocate would be much better at spelling, or at least intelligent enough to hit the "spell" button.) of other people it is a direct violation of netiquette to not ping the person when you are responding to one of their posts, even the ones that are completely off the wall and make no sense at all. Obviously, you can ignore my request and continue to pester me with your messages. If you do, though, it is possible that some on Free Republic might conclude that government school teachers are stalkers and bullies.

Wow what a really obvious way to make a Saul Alinsky style attack on a person. It is no wonder that your won children are so opposed to your methods that they don't follow your advice about education.
