Wow! What treasures. This is very interesting. Thank you for posting it.
Don’t they have property taxes?? She paid all of that time and never set foot in it again?
Strange story
That is amazing. I’m surprised that after 70 years there isn’t more dust/cobwebs.
That dressing table is sweeeeeeet!
I’d have rented that in a minute- as is. Dusted and tidied up a bit, and left it alone. Sitting in there in the evenings listening to old jazz on a gramophone and reading something with a cat on my lap and a glass of something pleasant within reach.
*bliss*
Pingawinga
That Mickey Mouse and Porky Pig likely was sold for a pretty penny. The ostrich, probably not so much.
I looked at the pictures.
I am skeptical, because I don’t think Mickey Mouse and porky pig looked like that during the war.
And even if they did, I find it hard to believe they avoided rodents (real ones) all this time.
One of the photos shows some stuffed toys resembling Mickey Mouse & Porky Pig which suggests the presumed time frame that lady left her flat in 1939 may be off.
Odd that she never sent for her art.
Wow, just think of how much money she could have made renting out the apartment for 70 years.
” France had to pay the occupation costs of the German troops.”
We should have tried that with Iraq.
