Caked in dust and full of turn-of-the century treasures, this Paris apartment is like going back in time.

Having lain untouched for seven decades the abandoned home was discovered three years ago after its owner died aged 91.

The woman who owned the flat, a Mrs De Florian, had fled for the south of France before the outbreak of the Second World War.

She never returned and in the 70 years since, it looks like no-one had set foot inside.

Don’t they have property taxes?? She paid all of that time and never set foot in it again?

Strange story

The neighbors must have been surprised about the lack of noise.

That is amazing. I’m surprised that after 70 years there isn’t more dust/cobwebs.

I’d have rented that in a minute- as is. Dusted and tidied up a bit, and left it alone. Sitting in there in the evenings listening to old jazz on a gramophone and reading something with a cat on my lap and a glass of something pleasant within reach.

*bliss*

Current societal norms seem to have tastes far inferior to the pre WWII generations. I love that apartment!

That Mickey Mouse and Porky Pig likely was sold for a pretty penny. The ostrich, probably not so much.

I like the masculine ceiling beams in the dining/kitchen that give structure to the feminine appointments.

I’d like to see each and every object in the apartment pictured, cleaned up. Just gorgeous.

And the paint doesn’t even seem to be peeling!

I looked at the pictures.

I am skeptical, because I don’t think Mickey Mouse and porky pig looked like that during the war.

And even if they did, I find it hard to believe they avoided rodents (real ones) all this time.

Sitting here listening to some old Satchmo wishing that I’d been in the right place at the right time, cash in hand. Add to my previous vignette open windows and a warm summer rainstorm outside.

Wallpaper is coming down in one corner. That’s alright- benign neglect- I’ll get around to fixing it someday.

One of the photos shows some stuffed toys resembling Mickey Mouse & Porky Pig which suggests the presumed time frame that lady left her flat in 1939 may be off.

Mickey Mouse Doll 1940s

I'm not skeptical.

In the late 1990s omebody I know snuck into a vacant small house in my city, coffee on the table, 1950 newspaper opened on the table, 1950 calender on the wall.

As far as I know it's still all there today. I'm trying to find out the address.
