A friend did something like that: loaded IMI blank powder into a .308 like it was a 'light' BLC-2 load, and promptly blew up an Argentine Mauser which had been rechambered in .308. The sad part is that he knew better.
The remains of the firearm are now used as an exhibit for the hunter safety classes, he survived with only a minor peppering with brass and a hand that stung for a few days from when the foregrip shattered. (Good shooting glasses saved his eyes).
