Twinkies may be back on the shelves in a couple months! As every sane person knows, our beloved Twinkies went out of production a few months ago because of a dispute between Hostess Brands, Inc. and the bakery unions that crafted the sweet snack.

Hostess Brands LLC, a new company under new management in Columbus, GA, announced that it will re-open the state of the art bakery:

The Company will initially add 200 jobs to the local economy and plans to create a total of more than 300 jobs in the community within the next several years. The baking facility, located at 1969 Victory Drive in Columbus, will resume operations this summer and will produce a full assortment of Hostess’ iconic snack products, including Twinkies, Cup Cakes, HoHos and Ding Dongs.

This new Twinkie facility was also a pre-shutdown Twinkie factory. It made Dolly Madison doughnuts and Zingers and added Twinkies when Dolly got eaten up by Hostess. I’m not sure how heavily unionized the place was before closing. But this is a regional factory and I’m sure other bakeries will be opening in the West, Midwest, etc.

It’s not the Twinkees. It’s the chocolate cupcakes.I have been able to resist the unfamiliar replacement brand in the store. But alas my diet will be over.

Is the factory going to be operated by Tom’s? That’s a very good company with top flight workers and management. Good bbq in Columbus.

Tom’s is great but it got eaten up by Lance so now the Tom’s factory makes Lance like Dolly Madison made Hostess and will again.

I don’t know the details of how they’re going to manage and man it.

I might be interested in their orange cupcakes, but Tasty Cakes put Ding Dongs to shame & their version of Twinkies are pretty good. If they’re made in Mexico, forget it. I am done with Frito Lay, General Mills, & some others.

Well I hope they go back to the original Twinkie recipe they had back in the early 1970s when I ate them as a kid. Back then, they were much spongier and creamier. They were so soft and spongy that you almost had to peel them off the cardboard packing. Of course the shelf life wasn’t as long as the didn’t inject them with all the preservatives and corn syrup that they do nowadays. I think that was the big difference.

To: yield 2 the right

Twinkies died long ago, when they were forced to replace the saturated-fat laden cream with a healthier goo.
