Fox NASCAR coverage...
Me | 04/13/13 | Sporke

Posted on 04/13/2013 8:43:47 PM PDT by Sporke

I watch most NASCAR races. During every race I can remember, the sponsor of a race is mentioned at least while going to a commercial, and coming back from a commercial. The sponsor is usually mentioned at least a few dozen other times during the race.

The winner of a race at Texas Motor Speedway is also presented a pair of pistols that he shoots, at the trophy presentation.

I watched 90% of the NASCAR race today, and not ONCE did I hear who the sponsor was, NOT ONCE!!! I never saw a single NRA sign of any type. I also did not see the winner with a pistol in his hand after the race, like I have after every single other race at TMS.

Fox SUCKS!!!! I hope and pray they pay a price for what they didn't do today at the race.

What good did it even do for the NRA to sponsor the race if they got no airtime?

I saw that this morning, and wasn’t a bit surprised.

What surprised me about Fox was that I assumed the sponsor would be guaranteed a certain amount of mentions during a race. I guess I was wrong. :-/

There were actually a few NRA mentions, but they were sparse.

On the Fox NASCAR schedule, next week is the “STP 400”. I would assume the sponsor is STP. For this weeks race, it has “NASCAR racing at Texas” or something close to that. One would think NRA 500 is as easy to type as STP 400.

It gets even worse if you go to the NASCAR FOX Sports website. No usual picture of the winner with the trophy. Just a "Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner!" graphic. If you go to "Photos", there about three loaded so far from tonight's race. The fags refer to the race as "the Texas 500". Somebody needs to tell the retards down at FOX Sports that the Texas 500 won't be run until November 3rd. This NAZI censorship bull**** is a real load. This isn't my America anymore. This is Barry's Amerika ObamaNation.

Weird because an earlier thread on the topic was wondering how the left would deal with the in your face NRA logos. Folks must be watching different races. I’m going to go back to a streaming live concert instead of a bunch of people turning left.

If NASCAR censors the Confederate Battle Flag then of course FOC can keep the NRA mentions to a minimum. I wore a Battle Flag shirt today just because I’m sick of PC kowtowing everywhere even here in Alabama.

I noticed all week on the local FOX station (not an affiliate but owned by them) that the promo’s did not mention the sponsor.

I already fired off some "feedback" to the cowards over at http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar. I made sure to let them know that the NASCAR race they just covered on TV was the NRA 500. Told them that the Texas 500 hasn't been held yet and would be held in November.

Cudos to Yahoo sports. They got the name of the race correct and they didn't even provide TV coverage of the event.

I hate government censorship.

Malone is the man. They don’t make them like that anymore. He wore the NRA 500 logo on his hat and shirt. I guess, unlike FOX and NASCAR, he’s not “into” bending over for the leftist creeps.

I’ve watched my last NASCAR event.

I can’t say I’m a huge fan but every time I’ve watched in the past the sponsor has been shoved down my throat. Today, crickets.

Screw NASCAR and screw Fox. Rupert Murdoch can rot in hell.

I heard the announcers mention the “NRA 500” twice.

At the end of the race, after Kyle Busch exited his car, I saw the red letters “NRA” on a white background, inside an oval, behind him. I noticed the camera quickly went off that logo.

The NRA should sue NASCAR, because they, the NRA, didn’t get what they paid for.

Near the end of the race, FOX aired a promo for next week’s race, the STP 400 from Kansas. All week, FOX promoted today’s race at the Texas Motor Speedway, but they didn’t call it the “NRA 500.”

I saw and loved the Mailman back when he was still playing for Utah when I was a wee kid. Always thought he was the best power forward other than Mchale. Yup, Karl Malone actually said he’s a redneck. :)

Fox and NewsCorp (parent company) are not conservative... neither is Rupert Murdoch. No surprised NRA ignored

In fact, Murdoch made his initial big money in the early 70’s supporting Australian Labour party leader Gough Whitlam...the “Father of Socialized Medicine” in Australia

The NRA wasted their money on this sponsorship because they got ZERO exposure. I hope they sue NASCAR’s ass off.

I heard Mike Joy call it the NRA 500 one time toward the end, last 20 laps or so.

But, it is more complicated than you might think. You can pay to be the race sponsor, but if you don’t pay the network as separate fee, they will not mention you.

For example, remember when Bud had the pole sponsorship and it was Bud Pole this and Bud Pole that. Then Coors bought the sponsorship and they almost never mention the Coors Pole. That is because Bud paid the networks to call it the Bud Pole and Coors did not.

I suspect the NRA either chose not to pay FOX to mention them or FOX refused to accept a payment for politically correct reasons.

Yeah, Texas might have a fast track but for the most part, it’s very boring. Not enough passing and not enough wrecks. TMS needs to install a ramp.

As is custom for all race sponsors, the NRA was offered the chance to buy the premium ad package from Fox Sports that would include commercial time, sponsor mentions and graphics with the race name. The NRA declined, and thus the race was presented without a sponsor on in-race graphics and the Fox broadcast mentioned the title sponsor once an hour.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nascar-from-the-marbles/man-shoots-self-infield-nra-500-214951761--nascar.html

From a mostly unrelated story about a man who shot himself dead while located in the infield.

I don't know why they would not buy the premium package; could they not afford it?

I'm lucky to watch the beginning, end, and some of pits stops. The rest is a big snoozer..

“I don’t know why they would not buy the premium package; could they not afford it?”

I’d like to know the price for the premium package, I bet it’s a fortune.

If I were the NRA, I would have went all-in. If you’re going to sponsor a national event like that, why go halfway?
Texas was the perfect place to do it. You won’t find a more pro-NRA racetrack. :-/

I agree with you; I would have wanted to go all in. But at least we know why. Strange, though, that the article would mention that; it has nothing to do with the guy shooting himself.
