I do not have that problem but the mail thingy will not turn off after reading messages. Has been that way for a few weeks. Any suggestions on how to turn it off?

Go to My Account, click Preferences, re-set Pagination on both Messages and Threads to 20. It can handle that.
This happens from time to time -- because of some obscure software glitch. It will probably be corrected tomorrow and you can switch the pagination back to 50 (or whatever).

I never notice this problem. I only ever have enough time and patience to read/comment on the top articles, post one or two new ones and read pings. I actually do have a little bit of a life.
