The Star Trek Guide to Religions - Vanity
GraceG

Posted on 03/28/2013 9:37:56 AM PDT by GraceG

Ok, thought just crossed my mind concerning religion

Star Trek Series compared to religions

Star Trek: TOS (The Original Series) = Judaism The bedrock of Religion, all others are based off of it, is the Bible that all above it is based off of.

Star Trek: TNG (The Next Generation) = Catholicism Builds off the first series and adds a bunch of moral life lessons, can get a bit more preachy at times but a decent series.

Star Trek: DS9 (Deep Space Nine) = Protestantism Builds off the first two series is somewhat more serious about it in certain areas, there is more of an edge to it, doesn't take order from a HQ such as Rome or Star Fleet Command.

Star Trek: Voyager = Mormonism Started by wandering around in unknown territory in the Delta Quadrant / Utah lost most of the time and sometimes as irrational as Janeway, some good gems but really uneven.

Star Trek: Enterprise = Unitarianism A complete reinterpretation of several of the previous ones before it and boiled down to vanilla so much that it is a bunch of PC garbage that makes it bland as unflavored soy ice cream sound delicious, almost as fulfilling as drinking 8 pots of coffee and attending the taping of an infomercial.

Janeway should have been hauled back to that New Zealand Penal Colony after they got back to the Alpha Quadrant

Obviously, you didn't watch much past Season 1.

Firefly- Anglican. You can see something familiar in it that reminds you of some of the others but mostly people drink a lot. :->

Pssst.... They’re just TV shows.

Your idea is pretty cute, though.

I guess that would make “Babylon 5” Taoism, a lot of that yin/yang, light/dark references in the Vorlon/Shadow conflict.

Fun Post!

Now here is something I cooked up using a STRONGS Concordance with the Superman Story:

Krypton (gr) The Secret Place
Jor-El (Heb) Archer of G-d
Kal-El (heb) Son of G-d, or Man of G-d
Lois (Fr) Warrior
Smallville (can anything good come from Nazareth?)
Metropolis(gr)The Great City (Jerusalem?)

(The Narrative:)
Jor-El sends His Son Kal-El to Earth, from The Secret Place of the Most High (Krypton) where he is raised in a Small Insignificant Town. Kal-El takes on a Human Name and goes to the Big City to work towards a better world. For some reason, all of his friends and enemies have the initials L-L (El is the Hebrew word for G-d). His biggest enemy is Lex Luthor. (Lex is Latin for “Law” and “Luthor might be a reference to Martin Luther and the reformation.)

Funny thing is that the character of “Superman” was created by a Jewish Artist, based upon Nietzsche’s “Man and Superman” which also inspired Hitler.

This is a fun game! :-)

Back in the 19th Century, several people liked to play it and now we have a whole BUNCH of new religions! LOLOL!

To: left that other site

Man and Superman is a play written by George Bernard Shaw.

Nietzsche’s sister Elizabeth was the one who created the Nietzsche/Nazi myth.

You can look both of those facts up.

The Battlestar Galactica series of the 2000’s would be that Japanese doomsday cult that tried killing everyone in the Tokyo subways.

I’d say Star Wars is Taoism. You’ve got the ancestor reverence with the ghosts of Jedis past following you around, the whole yin-yang duality of the light and dark sides of the force, and the Jedi powers are like Chi energy manipulation.
