After reflection on your post... down here in South Florida... I see so many Haitian people with the same look. I even gave a local 7 Eleven employee (who was quite nice and gave me free refills because I was a regular) “Angry Haitian Guy” nickname status because I didn’t know his name and he had the permanent look of anger/sadness/bitterness. Sadly, those in my apartment complex knew EXACTLY WHO I MEANT with that term. That also made me sad to think of what he lived with to give him that perpetual look. And I see it in first generation Haitian refugees... what did they live with...?

That being said. THESE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HERE FOR YEARS/GENERATIONS/CENTURIES!!!!! WTH is the problem? Is it an education on HOW TO BE A VICTIM??? Is life here in America so miserable you have to become this way? This isn’t even a race thing, I see white people with the same look in their eyes and same chip on their shoulder (although, disproportionately)

I think I am taking on society’s ills too personally, but seriously. When I see TRUE HARDSHIP etched in the faces of people and see FAKE hardship trying to make me feel sympathy... just damn.

I understand what you mean, I used to live in the Space Coast area. I saw the writing on the wall in the early 2000’s and planned my way out of there in 2009. Unfortunately the housing market crashed to delay things, but that’s a different topic.

When I first moved there in the Early 80’s there were still dirt road and most of the paved ones were two lane. Population was very low and the people were extraordinarily easy to get along with.

Fast forward to the mid 2000’s. Four or even six lane secondary roads. The nearest Walmart was three miles away and took 20 minutes to get to because of traffic. People everywhere and the ‘immigrant’ population was quickly becoming the majority.

Of interest though there was a LOT of self-segregation. American Blacks lived in there neighborhoods and the Haitian Blacks lived in theirs. Mexicans were pretty much the same but had a lot of advanced settlers spreading around.

The only common melting pot was the schools as far as I could see. And the quality kept getting worse and worse there too. Too many kids crammed into Campuses. Heck my local elementary school had more kids than the entire school system does here in my county I reside in now.

But getting back to “Shark Eyes”, I was starting to see that more and more before I left. I sometimes thought that it was a result of too many people penned up in too small a space for them. Perhaps they came to see all of the people around them as ‘objects’ rather than living breathing people with feelings.

In any case, it’s a dangerous thing to be around. And what makes it worse is the attitudes of the Politicians and Law Enforcement. They have to deal with the “bad” element more than most and they have the natural inclination to disarm them so that they will feel safer when they have to go calling on them. Because frankly, they want to go home to their families at the end of the shift.

But to disarm them they have to disarm everyone else because it isn’t “fair” to pick on the “Shark Eyed” people only. And we all know what that leads to now don’t we? That’s right, a baby getting killed in it’s stroller just because....
