“For me, it’s corn. I just love to watch it grow.”

I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I were to grow corn! That WOULD be exciting! For some reason i have the idea that it is particularly challenging.

OH my goodness...had not heard about the jelly...nor of its turning black. We never did the mac and cheese over mesquite, but I can imagine it is wonderful!

AFter posting the previous, I have the question regarding the turned-black jelly. You state it should be thrown out...but I’m wondering if that would be necessary? I’m wondering what would account for the change.

Just curious.

I really don’t know why...I’ll open my jar and see if it tastes ok. The bean makes a wonderful hard candy. I’ll let you know.

I’m getting ready to plant some Kandy Korn in my a space in the community garden. My poor gardens in the back yard are orphans this sping, but I’ll catch up.......sometime. When the corn is about 5/6 inches high, I’ll do some anasisi beans on the 4 corners of the corn, then when the beans show some leaves then some squash all in the same furrow around the corn.

Oh how cool! Will the beans climb up the corn, or are those bush beans?

They are supposed to climb the corn. I’m planting a couple of anasazi beans and a couple of Blue lake climbers. Then I’m going to plant some straight neck squash. We’ll see what happens. The book says pumpkins, but I’ll do squash.

It sounds wonderful! Please keep me/us apprised! Isn’t that the method that the American Indians used?
