C and D are my top two choices. There's a lot of E right here on FR, but it's as much a result of A good article on ‘Normalcy Bias’ as anything. A good article on ‘Normalcy Bias’ is on our own ChocChipCookies Blog The Survival Mom:

http://thesurvivalmom.com/2010/12/29/normalcy-bias/

I see a lot of this especially in my discussion with people about Prepping.

I'm not a prepper. Because of the economy, I have to live like it's the mid 1800s. ;)

Normalcy bias is probably my biggest obstacle. I am definitely taking steps to prepare (mentally, skill set more than stockpiling).

I can’t much get into this Prepper thing.............

Whatever happens, happens. If it’s as bad as some folks are predicting, I don’t even know if I WANT to survive it.

What most folks would consider prepping is how my grandparents lived. And how I live today.

I go into winter with a very full larder (most of it I can myself). Wound up adding some feral pork that I cured and smoked (thanks, brother).

And now that we're about a week away from the vernal equinox, I've got a cold frame busting full of tomato, pepper, and tobacco plants ready to go in the ground after Easter.

I can rinse and repeat whether the world around me collapses or keeps going crazy.

Is it prepping? Or is it just living a conservative and prudent life?

And what if it only gets "really bad" for four months, and after that it's just "darn bad" for a year. Still rather die?

” I’ve got a cold frame busting full of tomato, pepper, and tobacco plants ready to go...”

Cheer up...it's better than this reality.

Close to the land, close to family and friends, close to nature.

Seems scary...but it'll be a BIG improvement.

Just watch out for those Zombies.;-)

The list does not include sports.

Sports is a diversion that maintains people’s reactions and perceptions of the world on the same level as fourteen-year-olds.

Go team!!!

That’s children’s thinking.

The seedlings for the big garden haven't quite over-run the actual reason for the cold frame, which is the lettuce and spinach and chives. I had some lettuce today with lunch when I thinned the lettuce, yet again. ;)

I grew up during the Cold War, my daf was in the AF and they were told to have 3 months of food on hand. I laugh now because the 8 of us coldn’t have lived 3 weeks on what we had and it seemed like a lot.

OTOH, my MIL had home canned goods from years back and could have lasted for months.

I've got 10-15 years of good cigars in a home-made humidor...a lemon tree and trees loaded with squirrels (and several boxes of good .22 lr ammo).

If any of you are hungry (for squirrel or a good,well-aged Macanudo gold ascot with a Connecticut wrapper) ...come on down.

Not counting the catz (they get fussy about being included on the protein list), I'm good for months and months. I've been living that way for a long time, and spent a year and a half after the market crash of 2008 mainly living on stored and foraged and grown food. Squirrel population took a big hit in 2009 around here. ;)

DING! DING! DING!

Whenever I see an adult decked out in the full regalia of "their team," my mind sees that woman who served her jury duty in her StarFleet uniform.

Yeah—I’m old and not getting any younger. I don’t have any place to raise and store food and water and other essentials.

Maybe one of my many children will take us in-—LOL!
