'The Punisher' takes vengeance on Russia's bad drivers
NBC News ^ | 3/10/13 | Baruch Ben-Chorin

Dubbed "The Punisher," Alexei Volkov takes a zero-tolerance approach to being cut off while driving his bus on Russia's roads.

Day or night, rain, snow or shine, whenever an errant driver gets in his way, Volkov rams his bus into the offending vehicle without apology -- and records it all on his dashboard camera.

The bus driver then documents the collisions by posting the video footage on YouTube.

"The situation is gradually improving ... due to my educational work," he said.

Priceless.

“Man’s nuts.”

Nah, he is just doing what many, many people would like to do when driving with inconsiderate drivers who think that they own the road and are entitled to be inconsiderate.

It serves them right!

I tried to look at it but it’s all in a foreign language or something. :-)

I agree. He's doing what we wish we could do when an a-hole cuts us off in traffic and then slams on their brakes. I won't do it because there is too big a chance of seriously injuring someone (plus it's illegal).

I like the dash cam. Maybe the video could be sent to the police and the a-hole's insurance company.

The last video of the series will be when he does it to the vehicle of a bunch of Russian mobsters, or a senior Party member (same difference).

Personally, I would like to see a society with less law enforcement and more direct citizen action. An armed society is a polite society, and courts and insurance and paperwork lead to generalized incivility against faceless “others”. If the “other” is free to confront the problem and baldly deal with the problem, then perhaps some of the folks who cause the problem would mend their ways.

Russian truckdrivers know how to handle idiots who attempt to rob them.

Wow, what is it with Russian drivers? They are all cutting in super close and then braking.

if you actually leave any space between your bumper and the car ahead of you others take that as a sign they will cut in. no kidding.

That’s what I keep saying. We need to create a society that doesn’t need cops.

My town has a sheriff’s deputy roll through about once a month but we really have no need of police.

Russian drivers are absolutely the worst I’ve seen. Totally ignore all traffic laws known to man...

I “brake check” ALL tailgaters... I mean not just a light tap on the brakes to get the brakelights to flash, but like... after 3 attempts to slow and let them pass, I will STAND on the brakes and let them swerve off the road over a cliff... and continue merrily on my way. It’s the beauty of owning a fully depreciated vehicle... I have nothing to lose for every “squirrel” and “bunny rabbit” that “jumps out in front of my car”.

Otherwise, I look at this as me providing a free service to all the other drivers on the road... that don’t tailgate.

Did you even look at the video?

Every car the bus hit had pulled in front of it and then did your little “brake check” routine.

The bus driver then rammed into them.

One of these days your little game is going to get someone - maybe even you - injured or killed.

My brother had a great trick. The backup light switch was just under the boot of his stick shift rather than down in the transmission, so when someone tailgated him he "blinked" his backup lights at them. It was funny watching tailgaters lock up their brakes to try to not be hit by the transmission they expected to jump out of my brother's car.

We should legalize and hire many like him to drive on US roads.

Except that such legalized drivers here should go to work on tailgating and ugly lane changes.

I did the same with my Volvo Wagen... the light came on just moving the shifter over, but not engaging it IIRC. The other antitailgater tactic in that car was turning the rear window washer fluid nozzle straight up... I would douche their car and there was a smile whenever their windshield wipers would start. I often wish there was a separate bottle for that nozzle. I would have filled it with WD-40 or waste oil... or battery acid... or piss... whatever.

I heard of one guy who carried a 2M candlepower deerspotting lamp to blind tailgaters highbeaming him at night.

Trust me... most of the tailgaters I have faced in snooty Hunterdon County, NJ were not in beater cars... they were in daddy’s SUV, cranking gansta rap, with some Jersey Shore reject hussy in the passenger seat.

Once I came up to a stopsign... and got out, went back to politely ask that he not tailgate me... and when he sat there and started doing a linelock, I went back to the car, put it in reverse, nail him hard enough to leave marks, and took off.

Good times.
