Posted on 03/02/2013 9:42:07 AM PST by mnehring
THIRTEEN years ago, researchers at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum began the grim task of documenting all the ghettos, slave labor sites, concentration camps and killing factories that the Nazis set up throughout Europe.
The researchers have cataloged some 42,500 Nazi ghettos and camps throughout Europe, spanning German-controlled areas from France to Russia and Germany itself, during Hitlers reign of brutality from 1933 to 1945.

Disgusting, and scary - given that we haven’t seemed to have learned much since then.
How are the deniers going to square with these new insights?
Thanks for posting this. I hope that this serves to increase the sentiment of ‘never again’, and makes us all even more vigilant to the seeds of tyranny that they would be burned before they sprout.
This, this is why we have a 2ND Amendment and why we must be willing to fight and bleed if necessary to keep it.
What does it matter now?
NYT just doing the research Obama needs. For a blueprint for the next round.
Please enlighten us on why you think it doesn’t matter.
Ironic that the NYT supports the same social policies of the Nazi’s.
Heck I was in their building as saw one of their senior writers dressed in an outfit which was basically a nazi dress gray uniform minus the actual insignia. The pants even had the enlarged thighs (the riding trousers).
There is nothing more we can do as far as punishing those who are guilty. But we can update our history so that a more accurate account is recorded.
Now in Amerika. US Interment Camps for the unruly.
Sorry I was mocking Hillary Clinton who seems to think anything that happened before this very minute is irreevant
We have some ‘deniers’ here so it is easy to get confused.
I would have thought FReepers would recognize my mocking of Hillary Clinton.
Interesting that the NY Times published this article. Unless I’m mistaken, didn’t the Times have a major role in covering up these actions WHILE THEY WERE OCCURRING?
“Never again” has a nice ring to it but since 1945 it has happened again. It has happened in Russia, China, Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and on a smaller scale in places too numerous to list. You are right to be worried about protecting tradiional American freedoms. Especially since the vile Obama clown parade is leading the people on the downwad course that makes such atrocities likely.
The Times still has no interest in the camps and gulags run by their friends, the communists, over a lot longer period of time and murdering many more people.
This is the latest comeback on even the most shocking news. Hillarys response on the deaths of Benghazi that could have easily been prevented “What does it matter now”. The same haughtiness of Marie Antoinette.
“What does it matter now?”
You’re doing the Hillary thing, right?
When I first saw your post I thought you were mocking the “what difference does it make” Bilary reference. But, honestly, I wasn’t 100% certain. Glad you clarified :)
They even covered up the Holodomore.
That has to be the worst title of the year so far.
Scary how it reminds me of one of the political parties in America. Including obama voting against the "Born Alive" bill in Illinois....
sites euphemistically named care centers, where pregnant women were forced to have abortions or their babies were killed after birth
My first clue came when my daughter studied in Italy when she was a junior in high school. We took a family trip to pick her up in May 2006. She had the most wonderful host family in the small town of Fossoli near Carpi. Her Italian "Dad" took us to a local Nazi concentration camp in Fossoli and it struck me at the time "what in the world is a Nazi concentration camp doing here in this small town in Italy?" Before that, I didn't know the Nazis were exterminating the Jews in Italy, too.
This article helps piece the entire story together.
Sorry. My bad! That was a good one, too. I need more cofee.

Sent this to my Congressional reps:
“THIRTEEN years ago, researchers at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum began the grim task of documenting all the ghettos, slave labor sites, concentration camps and killing factories that the Nazis set up throughout Europe.
What they have found so far has shocked even scholars steeped in the history of the Holocaust.
The researchers have cataloged some 42,500 Nazi ghettos and camps throughout Europe, spanning German-controlled areas from France to Russia and Germany itself, during Hitlerâs reign of brutality from 1933 to 1945.”
This tragedy is exactly what happens when a people allows its government
to disarm them.
I have written you gentlemen several times on the need to preserve our
Second Amendment against erosion by our federal government, most recently
about the spate of knee-jerk gun control measures proposed by Feinstein
and a host of others. Some of you have replied that ‘you will listen to
the opinions of all your constituents before taking a stance on our Second
Amendment’ That’s very ‘democratic’ of you but there is one problem—we
don’t live in a democracy (mob rule)—our Founders instituted a
I can PROMISE you that the firearm-owning voters will not sit still for
the slightest infringement on our 2ND Amendment, and if you enjoy your
job, I would encourage you to remember that.
How dare you use sarcasm without the sarcasm tag for the sarcastically challenged.
> Please enlighten us on why you think it doesnt matter.
It’s a joke, son, I say, it’s a joke.
It’s a take off on Hitlery’s comments to the Congress about Benghazi, remember?
Do we need the /sarc tag after every play on words?
Do you think the New York Times will admit that the NAZIS were the “National Socialist” Party? I think not, the NYT protects at all cost the Socialists.
The real puzzle to me is how so many Jewish people are socialists.
Yeah, does it matter that there is no sarc tag? /s
Wait until we find out what is taking place in the North Korean hellhole right now when that information will become available in the future.
And even then, we will have learned nothing because there will be enough deniers of the truth.
The Final Solution even reached all the way into Africa, where several hundred Jews from Libya were killed, and to the Jewish community on the island of Rhodes, off the coast of Turkey.

Here’s whats interesting about the comment...”why does it matter?”....it was a joke=take off on Hilary’s comment...but the response here demonstrates just how awful her comment really was!
No one would think you would say that after Benghazi..but she did and got away with it.
I wonder if she would have said the same thing about the black girl (that was at obama’s innaugural)shot dead in Chicago, “what does it matter if she got shot dead by a thug or just somebody that wanted to go out and shoot black girls?”
Do you mean jodpuhrs?
Yes, but they were cut exactly like the nazi’s used. Also the same gray color.
I’m really surprised the Freepere here didn’t get that quote and you had to explain it. Just shows how the general public has forgotten. Hillary gets away with another one. Probably need to put it in quotes in the future.
All that’s keeping us and this country from the same fate are the NRA, and the millions of patriots who remain dedicated to the 2nd Amendment. Those who are actively trying to dismantle it deserve no less than the EXACT same scorn and disgust as the Nazi murderers and other evil tyrants throughout history.
Because what they desire is a populace weak and unable to defend themselves. They don’t care about you one bit. You’d have a bullet to the back of your head if they had their way.
If the majority of us were thinking straight, we’d lock these vermin up (DiFI and others) and kick them in their collective heads ...then spit upon them and take pictures for everyone to see for even TRYING it. They deserve to be pariahs in any society.
We were able to visit Dachau during our tours in Germany. You could still just smell the death in that place ....even 50 years later.
Given the information available to them they did an O.K. job of covering the holocaust. Check out the articles on pgs. 7 and 8 of today's WWII + 70 Years post.
She owns that and it will be used as long as she shows her face.
Well, for right now, it's called "sensitivity training" and "community service", but "they're" working on it!!
Germans knew enough of what was going on. Claims of ignorance were lies.
Parents saw neighbors rounded up and had a pretty good idea what was happening. When their kids asked what happened the parents told them “nobody lived there, so don’t talk about it.”
I understand that they were silent in order to protect their kids. I don’t agree or approve of it, but I understand why.
You might include a pic of Hillary when you use that meme.
Not to minimize the evils of the NAZI holocaust (especially since I am Jewish, and had relatives who were both victims and survivors of the NAZIs), the NY Times ACTIVELY covered up the systematic starvation of the Ukraine by Stalin and the Soviet Union. They didn't just ignore it... They published glowing stories and support Walter Durante to this day. How the ownership and editorial staff of the times can live with themselves is baffling to me. They're disgusting.
Dear God, YES!
Carved in stone at the National Archives is a Shakespearean line, “What is past is prologue.” We must know without revision suited to contemporary politicians what went before, whether it’s the Holocaust or Benghazi.
Interesting - and pure coincidence, no doubt - the Clintons’ good buddy, Sandy Berger, managed to erase other history by stealing and then destroying docs at the Archive.
Not all Germans were silent. There was several underground resistance movements against the Nazis and Hitler. The White Rose and Realm of the Black, Red and Gold were two notable ones. I had a great-great-great uncle who was in the latter. He was caught and sent to Dachau early on and killed by the SS. I think there may have been many people who would have stood up but they saw what the SS did to people like my uncle and shut up for their own survival.
Of course, there is also just the mass hysteria of being caught up in a movement. There was so much anti-Jewish propaganda for decades blaming them for all the woes that Weimar was facing, many silently (or openly) cheered.
I know they weren’t all silent. Too many, though, acted like they didn’t have a clue afterward. Not true.
Fascinating information on the German resistance groups. Thanks.
