Jimmie Johnson held off Dale Earnhardt Jr. at the wire on Sunday, taking the checkered flag in the 2013 Daytona 500. Earnhardt Jr. finished second, running out of room as he tried to chase down Johnson on the last lap. Danica Patrick, who ran in the top-10 all day, finished eighth after losing ground on the last lap.
The Daytona 500 started slow enough, with drivers content to wait things out in the early going. A wreck on lap 32 was our first real action of the day as numerous cars got caught up in the mess, leading to the second caution of the 500 -- the first was a debris caution just before the crash.

Wait. That was a race? I thought they were playing follow the leader. NASCAR sure knows how to screw up a great sport.
Is she sounding like Big Ears blaming everyone but herself for not winning? ( Just an observation by someone who watches little of this ) Maybe I have it all wrong.

Yeah, not much excitement with the new Gen 6 car...mostly everybody ran a single top lane, but JJ did win from the bottom with Jr and Martin pushing.
Back in the sixties I watched stock car racing. Even bought a 67 satellite to match Petty’s car.
Now all the cars are the same and none of them are STOCK cars. Not interested.
She proved me wrong.
I missed Danica’s post race interview. I thought she drove a good race, obviously she had a great car and just was in the wrong lane on the last lap.
Boring race. I didn’t think Danica said anything wrong. She needed help to win and never got it. She drove a good race.
The best moment of the race is when Kyle blew his engine. I hope it’s a sign of a bad season to come for him.

I just caught a bit about her getting shuffled into the middle lane and getting hung out. I think she was commenting about Ryan Newman. Not a good thing to be dissing a teammate if I heard it right.

About a minute long. Listen and in my opinion she hasn't got the interview down just yet. After a few races she'll do better I'd guess.

Did anyone else catch the mistake by the “start your engines” guy? He said, “Drivers and Danica, start your engines”. What, Danica isn’t a driver? If he had said Gentlemen instead of Drivers, it would have been correct.

this is even more boring to watch than drag racing or golf. but, as a conservative, i am capable of letting others enjoy it even if i don’t without being offended or wanting to ban it.
Like the US military, women have no business doing some things they are not cut out to do, and driving a car 150 miles an hour is not one of them. If women were meant to race with men dykes would have infiltrated the sport years ago. If Patrick continues to race she will end up getting hurt bad.
As far as loudmouth Jimmy Johnson winning it, when he wins 3 more he’s caught up to Richard Petty.

The only reason I watched the race was to pull AGAINST Danica.
I missed most of the race (took my eldest to select baseball tryouts), but caught the end. That was a heck of a move by Earnhardt Jr. and co. to push to the front right at the end. Patrick, of whom I’m led to believe ran a very disciplined and solid race, simply got caught in the wrong line when the jump occurred — felt more old-school in that respect, seeing one line or the other just hung out to dry with no chance of getting back in.
I don't know, there were 35 guys suckin her gas fumes........maybe they were homos and didn't belong out there either......LOL!
She’ll never win a NASCAR race and her piss-poor driving on the last lap proves it. She neeeds to go back home and get the beer cold for the men. That was the worst Daytona 500 I have ever watched. Anybody’s race at the end and Patrick could not hang with the big boys. The majority of the racers had already crashed and she still couldn’t take advantage of it. And just like women in combat, a man will end up dying so she can live. Mark it down.

She didn't crash, didn't cause a crash, while finishing in the top 10, well in front of some former 500 winners and former NASCAR champions.
