Everyone should see this. Easier that traditional CPR.
This no-breaths protocol is new. Not sure if the Red Cross will do away with their 30 compressions to 2 breaths ratio they currently teach, but the docs here are right. Its better for most lay people in this situation to just pump away until medics arrive. And so true about the 100 bpm compression rate being easier with music cues ... I hate disco so for me its Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust”. But the BeeGee’s “Stayin’ Alive” might be more appropriate for the circumstances.
Good video. The one thing they should have added is that in addition to having someone call 911, someone should see if there is an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) nearby.
Many public places now have them, and the instructions for using them are super easy so even someone not trained can use one to help save a life. The CPR can continue while the AED is being set up, and only stopped when (and if) the AED says to press the button to deliver a shock to the victim.
Also, if you don’t like disco, you can do CPR to the beat of “Another One Bites the Dust.” Just don’t sing it out loud!
I watched it. Thanks for posting.
Interesting - you don’t even check for a pulse. Hope people don’t start cracking ribs for someone who has just fainted.
Thanks for posting the info.
