Uh oh... I wonder why not?

Howie Carr alluded to this on his show Wednesday - I'm sure he and Scott are pretty chummy. I had some hope that Brown would be back in that US Senate for MA (hey, he's better than the 'RAT alternative!).

Kind of sad news, IMO.

he remains popular in polls and he still has a statewide political organization.

This is such a mystery to me... I was certain he would be the first to announce a run once Kerry was out. Didn't he say something like "I'm not finished... I'll see you again." to MA voters after his loss to Granny Warren?

I don't know what other viable Republican can run in MA. It's pretty certain now that you're going to end up with a Sen. Markey or Sen. Lynch (possibly another Sen. Kennedy, God help us!).

Living in the northeast sucks, doesn't it? :-(

Weld is as much a Republican as Ted Kennedy’s rotting corpse.

That is probably good for the Republicans.

Brown lost the Senate seat he had. Apparently, the voters were not that impressed with his previous Senate tenure.

He would have lost anyway and will now probably run for governor. Hopefully now Keith Ablow will run!

Brad Jones, perhaps (House minority leader)? There’s got to be another qualified Republican in the state. My father-in-law on the Cape is a Republican and a good guy, but he’s 85...

Exactly. And in addition, as a Romney-selected Romney-toadee
Scott Brown nearly always voted with the DNC,
so what difference does it make?

Weld is a disgusting POS.

If you hated Jim Jeffords, Weld is a million times worse.

Ads run against him in both 10 and 12
called him a far right Rethuglican Nazi or words
to that effect. He had to tack left to counter.
Maybe he will run for gov...poss. as a conservative/
libertarian... Democrat

Don’t discount the possibility, that unlike most politicians, Scott Brown actually has a life. He may not want to scrap and bow for “donations” (aka, bribes) to win an “election” (also called “an advance auction of stolen goods”). He may be sick and tired of having to trim his sails to tack along with the inane electorate of this benighted Commonwealth. Even if he wins, what does he have to look forward to? Mud wrestling contests with the likes of Dirty Harry and Princess Liawatha to spare the thankless electorate from the consequences of their own electorial preferences?

I love Scott Brown, but if he wants to get out of that pigsty, who can blame him?

Smart move.

Brown, despite being the incumbent, lost to a very weak candidate.

What would we lose as a nation if we simply ceded Massachusettes back to England? Frankly, it would be addition by subtraction...gone the Kennedy’s; Warren, Coup de val, B frank, Martha’s Vinyard (make the gift around the time all the libs meet there in the summer and it would be a two fer) and a host of other libs.

“Brown, despite being the incumbent, lost to a very weak candidate.”

We had the same issue in Minnesota in 2008. Norm Coleman lost to Al Franken a weak and useless candidate.

Weld can’t run. He hasn’t been back in MA long enough.

As if he would win anyway. This is the state that just elected the hardcore Marxist Lizzy Warren.

It's the off-year vs. presidential election. He has a shot in an off-year election.

I know he sucks. But that doesn't mean he'd be ten times better than typical Massachusetts Marxists, like Elizabeth Warren.

Bad news, as far as I'm concerned.
