Windsor on Monday joined the growing number of municipalities which have voted to end the decades-old practice of adding fluoride to the water supply in the fight against tooth decay.
A lot has changed in the last 60 years fluoride is not the be-all and end-all to prevent tooth decay, said Mayor Eddie Francis, who voted with the majority.
I want to be shown that when we ingest this, we are safe, said Kimberley DeYong of Fluoride Free Windsor. She and others said not a single study among those cited by fluoridation proponents looked specifically at the industry-sourced chemical used by the municipality and its impact on human health outside of tooth enamel hardening.
Peter Van Caulart, director of the Environmental Training Institute that trains municipal waterworks operators, said theres been a 26 per cent drop in Canadian municipalities using fluoridation since 2005 and that in Niagara Falls, it was the first time council opposed its medical officer of health.

I had forgotten that.
My dad and his pals in North Dakota seemed to prefer Windsor to other whiskeys and bourbons so I was familiar with the brand.
Later when I bartended in Minnesota, south of Winnipeg, we had lots of Canadian customers. If I recall correctly some would order a “blend,” and we would then serve them Windsor or Canadian Mist, for the very reason you mention.
Hi Springman! Thanks for the ping! I’m sorry I only caught up on them just now.
I hope everything is going well with you and Mrs. Springman.
Don,
You have been blessed with good oral health. Studies have shown that about 2% of the US population has no gum disease and does not need to brush or floss to prevent gum disease. Your evidence is a statistical pool of one person, you. Just because one person (you)does not have a problem does not make me a lair or prove that most others do have problems. There are some folks that will never have cancer but they do not prove that cancer is not a concern for many folks. There is no need for childish name calling based upon your sample size of one. It is obvious that you totally lack the education and dental experience to understand the dental suffering of your fellow man. Further bashing and impetuous posts from you will not increase your education or motivate you to understand dental science. Therefore do not expect me to continue communication with you. I have moved on.
