Anonymous hacks US Sentencing Commission, distributes files
ZDNET ^ | Violet Blue

Posted on 01/26/2013 10:50:39 AM PST by JohnPDuncan

Hacktivist group Anonymous took control of the U.S. Sentencing Commission website Friday, January 25 in a new campaign called "Operation Last Resort."

The first attack on the website was early Friday morning. The second - successful - attack came around 9pm PST that evening. anonymous

By 3am PST ussc.gov was down (it has since been dropped from the DNS), yet as of this writing the IP address (66.153.19.162) still returns the defaced site's contents.

It appears that via the U.S. government website, Anonymous had distributed encrypted government files and left a statement on the website that de-encryption keys would be publicly released (thus releasing the as-yet unkonwn information held on the stolen files) if the U.S. government did not comply with Anonymous' ultimatum demands for legal reform.

Anonymous has not specified exactly what files they have obtained. The various files were named after Supreme Court judges.

Dirt on the judges? Good—we’ll know what the creep-in-chief is holding over on them.

As another freeper has indicated on a different thread — they need to just “do this”. Why threaten? Why say “we have stuff”? Just teach the Powers They Be that they crossed a line — it’s payback time, baby! The system is wholly corrupt, all the powerful people have secrets and things they want hidden. Bust that dam wide open. Let the people see that our political masters are all deeply flawed and are not our superiors.

Impossible. All judges are carefully vetted before being appointed.

The question is, which one of them has the most dirt.

If there’s anything to this “dirt” on SC justices, the ultimate goal is probably to force an early retirement of one of the justices seen to be hostile to the marxists ahead of any court challenge to their assault on the 2nd Amendment.

There’s another thread where practically everyone is cheering on these statists. People need to open their eyes. “Anonymous” isn’t what it pretends to be. And it sure as hell isn’t a friend of ours.

Well,we know that Ginsburg's a Marxist who once headed the ACLU.I'll bet that Kagan’s is interesting.Of course what they'll focus on is that Scalia was accused of shoplifting a pack of gum from a Woolworth's when he was 9.

The implication is that embarrassing information about the Justices had been located on the Gov website? I find this odd. This is either subterfuge or Anonymous got the info elsewhere.

no lawyer is going to have put real personal stuff in a file on a work computer. If s/he has, s/he deserves to be fired. It probably just has emails about cases which admittedly would be darned interesting.

I agree. Since they’re so good at getting the goods, why haven’t they bothered to dig up the information that everyone would like to see, such as Hussein’s school records, etc? Here is this man, practically a mystery as to his earlier life, leader of the “free world”, and they’re not interested?

I don’t think they particularly care about that. Anonymous is a radical leftist group, so having a stealth Muslim Marxist take over the US certainly isn’t going to bother them.

They have written the usual long screed that these groups write. Apparently they’re upset about Aaron Swarz, the hacker who killed himself a couple of weeks ago rather than face prosecution for downloading JSTOR files. I agree that the law is rather draconian and is written solely to protect copyright holders, not necessarily the authors or producers of the work, but the people who bought up the copyrights.

JSTOR is a particular fraud that doesn’t deserve anything; they charge $25 to take a peek at things from academic journals, peoples’ dissertations, etc. In other words, things for which the producer received little or no compensation, but which they are exploiting ridiculously.

JSTOR is “free” to registered users of academic libraries, in that they don’t pay for each article; but they do pay through their fees, which range into the hundreds of dollars.

However, this attack on the US Supreme Court makes no sense and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s actually being motivated by Obama or his minions, since Friday’s court decision finding his recess appointments unconstitutional will surely be appealed to the Supreme Court and Obama wants to make sure he has complete power over the Court.

[I’m guessing the files don’t actually contain much about the justices but more about the DoJ and the people who work there.]

It may be that some clerks are assigned to collect all negative information—proven, speculative or false—on each justice that is published on the Internet. This might be done so the justices can periodically look at what is being said about them. Anonymous may have these files. But I'm just guessing.
