Posted on 01/26/2013 10:50:39 AM PST by JohnPDuncan
Hacktivist group Anonymous took control of the U.S. Sentencing Commission website Friday, January 25 in a new campaign called "Operation Last Resort."
The first attack on the website was early Friday morning. The second - successful - attack came around 9pm PST that evening. anonymous
By 3am PST ussc.gov was down (it has since been dropped from the DNS), yet as of this writing the IP address (188.8.131.52) still returns the defaced site's contents.
It appears that via the U.S. government website, Anonymous had distributed encrypted government files and left a statement on the website that de-encryption keys would be publicly released (thus releasing the as-yet unkonwn information held on the stolen files) if the U.S. government did not comply with Anonymous' ultimatum demands for legal reform.
Anonymous has not specified exactly what files they have obtained. The various files were named after Supreme Court judges.

Dirt on the judges? Good—we’ll know what the creep-in-chief is holding over on them.
Dirt on certain members of SCOTUS? Oh, come on. That’s so gay.
There isn’t enough room on the Internet to expose all the dirt on them.
As another freeper has indicated on a different thread — they need to just “do this”. Why threaten? Why say “we have stuff”? Just teach the Powers They Be that they crossed a line — it’s payback time, baby! The system is wholly corrupt, all the powerful people have secrets and things they want hidden. Bust that dam wide open. Let the people see that our political masters are all deeply flawed and are not our superiors.
Impossible. All judges are carefully vetted before being appointed.
The question is, which one of them has the most dirt.
An open government is an honest government...and ours is closed up so tight it’s like trying to get a dollar from a liberal.
If there’s anything to this “dirt” on SC justices, the ultimate goal is probably to force an early retirement of one of the justices seen to be hostile to the marxists ahead of any court challenge to their assault on the 2nd Amendment.
There’s another thread where practically everyone is cheering on these statists. People need to open their eyes. “Anonymous” isn’t what it pretends to be. And it sure as hell isn’t a friend of ours.
Me, too. What did the Democrats have on Chief Justice Roberts? Inquiring minds want to know!
Alito 150 mb
Breyer 150 mb
Ginsburg 150 mb
Kagan 132.73 mb
Kennedy 108.35 mb
Roberts 22.78 mb
Scalia 150 mb
Sotomayor 100.62 mb
Thomas 150 mb
If they were serious, they’d have already put the info out there.
It sounds like they are threatening to wipe all of the governments servers.
I’m more interested in the dirt Boehner has on nearly every GOP member of the house who continually elect him to his position.
The implication is that embarrassing information about the Justices had been located on the Gov website? I find this odd. This is either subterfuge or Anonymous got the info elsewhere.
no lawyer is going to have put real personal stuff in a file on a work computer. If s/he has, s/he deserves to be fired. It probably just has emails about cases which admittedly would be darned interesting.
I’m guessing the files don’t actually contain much about the justices but more about the DoJ and the people who work there.
I could be wrong.
Call their bluff.
I’ve had managers who could waste that much disk space on a single indecipherable power point slide.
Do tell, lets get it out there because we know they are being bullied with this info by Dear Leader.
I agree. Since they’re so good at getting the goods, why haven’t they bothered to dig up the information that everyone would like to see, such as Hussein’s school records, etc? Here is this man, practically a mystery as to his earlier life, leader of the “free world”, and they’re not interested?
Yes, that doesn’t make sense.
All of Obama’s records were sealed long ago and are in safe keeping, the government will make sure of that..
Now that would be sweeeettt!
There’s so much dirt on DC you couldn’t fit it all on the Internet lol!!!
But I’ll be interested in what they have to show...
There is no Anon. Hack. Its the goobernment itself, so that we all clamor for internet control and registered IP address. If all for the children! Think of the lives save. “The Rights Of A Few Have To Be Limited For The Safety Of Others!”
errrrr.....Chief Justice Roberts....please pick up the red courtesy phone to the White Hut....
I don’t think they particularly care about that. Anonymous is a radical leftist group, so having a stealth Muslim Marxist take over the US certainly isn’t going to bother them.
They have written the usual long screed that these groups write. Apparently they’re upset about Aaron Swarz, the hacker who killed himself a couple of weeks ago rather than face prosecution for downloading JSTOR files. I agree that the law is rather draconian and is written solely to protect copyright holders, not necessarily the authors or producers of the work, but the people who bought up the copyrights.
JSTOR is a particular fraud that doesn’t deserve anything; they charge $25 to take a peek at things from academic journals, peoples’ dissertations, etc. In other words, things for which the producer received little or no compensation, but which they are exploiting ridiculously.
JSTOR is “free” to registered users of academic libraries, in that they don’t pay for each article; but they do pay through their fees, which range into the hundreds of dollars.
However, this attack on the US Supreme Court makes no sense and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s actually being motivated by Obama or his minions, since Friday’s court decision finding his recess appointments unconstitutional will surely be appealed to the Supreme Court and Obama wants to make sure he has complete power over the Court.
Probably the only thing the zero has done right is collect dirt on all everyone in DC. No doubt partially the beneficiary of Clinton’s secret files.
Is anarchy worse than a dictatorship?
Is anarchy worse than what we have now?
Need more ammo.
May the truth set us free!
The WH may have people who can control the GOP and the other old farts in D.C., but they will be hard pressed to control the minds of determined wiz kids, MIT,social media gurus. I have been waiting for this.....WH has crossed the line, some people are serious about freedom.
I wonder what it could be. Justice Roberts literally has no spine?
Inquiring minds want to know!!
Hmmmmmm comments were removed.....it was stoking a bit of outrage at the administrtion. Interesting
You mean... An open government is an honest government...and ours is closed up so tight its like trying to get a liberal to spend their OWN dollar.
Looks like the Roberts file has been cleaned of the incriminating evidence. Probably the payoff for the ObamaCare decision.
Before the Internet everything could be kept in file cabinets and locked away. Now everything is just left on the side of the road waiting to be unlocked by the skillful and tenacious. All encryption and firewalls are is camouflage.
It may be that some clerks are assigned to collect all negative information—proven, speculative or false—on each justice that is published on the Internet. This might be done so the justices can periodically look at what is being said about them. Anonymous may have these files. But I'm just guessing.
Discovery channel is going to have a special on the video of the Giant Jellyfish. Say it's not a coincidence!!!!
This is a threat against judges to toe the line. Obamacare should never have made it past the Supreme Court. But it did. What cases is the court now considering? Unconstitutional appointments? What else? Marriage of two men? Marriage of man and goat?
Fotos of a SCOTUS with a goat?
If they have a hair on their asses they’ll hijack the superbowl halftime show.
Just like ‘Used Cars’.
Yeah...Ruth Bader Ginsberg had an affair with Lincoln.
This will go over like another lead balloon, just like the others.
